As we arrive to Nathaniel's house, it didn't seem like much changed to me. The front lawn, they painting of the house, everything remained the same. All I'd say is a few more cars seems to be added in their driveway.
Before I can even get out of the car, Nathaniel gently grabs my hand, "Uh, look my parents are back in town. If they end up...popping up, just stay in the room. Okay?" He asks. I nod, and get out of the car walking up to the front door.
When I walk in, instead of expecting Kol, I hear very close barkings. To my left, an all white husky runs up to me, and I immediately jump. "Whoa-" I say it jumps up onto my leg.
Nathaniel chuckles, and walks over to us. "Meet Charlie." He says rubbing his head. Since when did they get a dog? I mean it's only been a month, so it makes sense. After all, Nathaniel doesn't exactly tell me everything that goes on.
I small smile appears on my lips. "When did you get him?" I ask watching him, and Charlie.
He arches his eyebrows and presses his lips together, "Uh, a few weeks ago. My therapist figured that he would be good for me."
Another thing that I hadn't known about. "Therapist?" I ask.
He begins to rub the back of his neck. "Yeah, I've been seeing one recently. Trying to work out my anger." He says.
I'm proud of him. He seems to be doing well for himself, trying to improve. The only the thing that I hope, is that he's doing this for himself, and not for anyone else. He's been through more than a lot, and I want him to be happy.
"That's good. How long do you plan on doing this?" I ask curiously. Even though it's really none of my business, I care about him, maybe a little too much than I should.
                              "Depends." He replies.
I look at him, wondering about what he may mean. "Could you elaborate please?" I ask with a soft voice. He lets out a deep sigh before, directing me towards the stairs, and I follow. "I'm saying, it depends on whether or not I have the ability to keep it going. Routines aren't my thing." We walk into his bedroom, and I look around quietly, as the memories begin to flood back into my mind.
"Well, lucky for you, i'm pretty good at keeping a routine going. Even though if it's not for a long time, I can manage." I say, sitting on the edge of his bed.
He lets out a small chuckle, and begins to slowly pace around his room as he throws an old football in the air. "I guess that's a good thing I have you around." He says. I keep quiet, but smile, and he stops, and looks at me.
"You are staying around..right?" He asks slowly.
Should I? I mean since everything, is that even a good idea? If i'm willing to give Christian a chance, he deserves one too.
I clear my throat, and look up towards him, "Yeah, i'll stay around." I say.
A small smile engraves his lips, and he nods.
I can make this work. It may take time but, we both can do this..
                              Hopefully.
