Gryffindor: Tries the obvious solutions, figuring that they could be the answer just on the principle that 'Nobody would try that.'
Ravenclaw: Tries really hard to follow the clues for logic their way out, and gets really defensive if they try something and it doesn't work.
Hufflepuff: If they can't figure out what they're supposed to do from the clues, they just try everything until something works.
Slytherin: Want to get out very quickly and so may miss clues in their haste. People tell them to 'Just have fun' but they don't understand that trying to do it really quickly is the fun part.
