Chapter 3 –
I was so relived to get back to my apartment so I could get away from Dean, he had been clinging to me all day and I couldn’t tell if he was faking or not. I dumped by bag on the sofa and went to the ringing phone and answered it.
“Hello?”
“Alex?” It was Sam, he regularly checked in with us to see if we were doing our job properly.
“Hello Sam.” I replied smiling, I could feel Dean looking at me.
“How is everything going?”
“Everything is going according to plan; the target will be in position ready to strike soon.” We never said the name of the target on the phone or through e-mail, as we didn’t know who we could trust.
“That’s good Alex. How is Dean?” I frowned.
“Do I have to answer that question?” I asked and Sam laughed, he was like another farther to me and he understood me and my needs.
“I hope you are being nice and are working together.” I could almost see Sam smiling. He treated all his agents like his own children.
“Yes Sam, we are working together and trust me I hate every moment of it.”
“You will thank me in the long run.”
“Speaking of run, I’ve got to go so I can go out for my daily run. See you soon.” I smiled.
“Goodbye Alex, we will speak soon.” He hung up and went to my room without one glance at Dean. I pulled on my running shorts and a tank top with sneakers. I slipped a knife into my shorts and left the room. Dean gawped like a moron at my legs and I was just about to leave when he spoke up.
“Where are you going?” He had his eyebrow raised. Damn him, I had always wanted to be able to do that.
“For a run.” I said matter of factly; I turned to leave but was stopped by Dean.
“Do you think it is a good idea for you to go out alone?” He actually looked worried and I laughed.
“Dean, I’m an assassin. I will be fine but if you want run with me, you better hurry up.” His eyes lit up and I mentally kicked myself for asking him that. He darted to his room and came back a few minutes later in a track suit with out a top. My eyes boggled at his muscularly chest.
“See something you like?” He teased as I flushed. Jackass.
“No.” I answered coldly going out the door. I really hated him sometimes. I had to admit that he kept up with me easily as I pushed myself harder and harder, trying to improve my time. We got back to the apartment breathless and covered in sweat. I checked the clock and had found I had taken off two minutes. Whoop!
“I’m going for a shower.” I said breathlessly as I headed for the shower. Dean just nodded and collapsed on the sofa.
The shower felt great on my skin, as I began to feel clean again I heard a knock at the door. I never had visitors. I shut off the water and wrapped a towel around myself and pulled out a gun I had hidden in the medicine cabinet. I pressed my ear against the bathroom door and I heard loud crashes and bangs that were not good. I pulled on my used shorts and top and raced out the room gun drawn to find four men beating the living day lights out of Dean.
