Chapter 7 –

I was vaguely aware of someone holding me, but I was so tired that I didn’t want to move. Too much had happened for me not to care, however my body thought that it should fight. I wriggled and shot out of the persons arms and stood blinking, trying to clear my vision. I was surrounded by woods. I then panicked. Where was I? Had Chris got me again? I thought that I had gone to a police station. Mmm…I was confused. The figure came closer to me in the darkness and I took a step back to hit a wall. Great, I had no luck what so ever.

“Alex, its okay it’s only me.” My head shot up.

“Sam? Where are you?” A torch flicked on and shone on me, I blinked at the brightness, and then looked up to see the slight glow of Sam’s face.

“I’m here.” He said smiling gently. I smiled back and ran and hugged him. I buried my head in his chest and sighed. I was glad to have someone familiar around.

“Come inside, your freezing.” I hadn’t realized that I was so cold that I shivering. I didn’t know where was but I was willing to go as Sam was me. I walked along beside him then stopped as I felt a sharp pain in my foot. Sam looked at me questionly, but I just bent over to my ankle. What the hell did I do? Throw myself out of a car? I touched the ankle and winced, I was gonna not be able to fight for a while. I leaned up and tried walking again but fell foreword, thankfully with Sam catching me. He scooped me up in his arms and strode foreword to the familiar building of the agency, the sun was coming up slowly in the distance and I smiled. Sam must have come and got me during the night. He strode foreword and his bodyguards opened the door as he went. A few agents were about the agency and stopped to look which was embarrassing. He went straight to his office and placed me on the sofa at the back of the room. He then went, not saying a word to drawing the blind then came silently back and leaned down in front of me.
“What happened out there Alex, because when I came and got you I found you unconscious and black and blue in bruises as well as covered in blood?” Covered in blood? I looked down and saw that my white t-shirt was now blood stained. Damn! I like that shirt. I frowned as Dean came in the room looking sad; he looked up at me and blinked.
“Alex?” He asked not believing what he saw.
“Yeah, it’s me Dean.” I whispered and Dean ran over to me pulling me into a hug. I winced form the pain and he let me go.
“Are you okay?” I nodded, not wanting to talk about it. Sam pursed his lips and went to his phone and dialed a number.
“Rachel, would you come to my office and bring your first aid kit please.” I hung up without another word and came back to me.

“Alex, you need to tell me what happened so we can see what we are up against.” I sighed and told them everything from what Dean saw right up to the police station and jumping out the car, which Sam looked shocked about. The door opened and Rachel came in with the first aid kit under her arm, she looked shocked the find me sat there for some reason which had me confused. She seemed frozen, but as quick as she froze she snapped out of it. She looked at Sam and their gazes locked, having a silent convosation. Rachel seemed stressed and Dean then cleared his throat which snapped them out of the convosation. She looked at me again then came over and knelt beside me. She took my ankle in her hand and examined it gently; I still winced at the pain. Once she had patched me up, she went and stood by Sam. Dean sat next me and took my hand; I slid mine out form underneath. He was the reason that I was in this mess. I could feel his stare on me but I refused to look at him, I was staring at Rachel and Sam. Sam seemed to notice and sighed.
“Alex, I have to tell you something very important okay?”

“Sure.” I nodded, what could be that important. Sam shifted uncomfortably as did Rachel.
“Your not gonna like this.” Sam said sadly. This time Dean shifted uncomfortably. What did they all know that I didn’t know? Sam took a deep breath.

“You were adopted.”

“What?!” I shrieked and looked at Rachel. She was my mother. How did that happen? Apparently I got switched at birth as I was in danger form my mother’s target. She had gotten pregnant with the target! Who does that?! My eyes flickered back between Sam and Rachel.

“She is not my mother!” Rachel took a step foreword and I took one back.
“Baby, come on. I know it is hard for you.” My eyes flashed to her and studied her. She had the same eyes as me and physique. The only thing that was different was her hair which was a red color.

“Baby? Don’t you dare call me that as I’m not your daughter!” I yelled, this was so not happening. I stood up and yelled in pain form my ankle, I tired to ignore it. Rachel looked hurt.
“Alex, don’t you speak to your mother like that.” Sam snapped, and my anger flared.
“My mother?! My mother is at home not in front of me! I know who my mother is and even if I was adopted they would have told me.” I folded my arms across my chest stubbornly.

“We asked for you not to know until you were ready.” Rachel said quietly.
“Why? Why would you do that to me? If I am your daughter, you should have onto me, not give me away.” I was so angry that I could feel the heat creep up my face.

“We did it to keep you safe Alex.”
“Safe?” I scoffed. “I bet you did it so you didn’t have to put up with me, you wanted the easy option so you gave me up! That is real safe and you are not my mother!”

“I am, I swear to you Alex. I didn’t want to give you up, but I had to or you have died.” I shook my head and pulled out my phone.
“What are you doing?” Sam demanded and I ignored him. I dialed my parent’s house number and waited while it rang. On the fifth ring someone answered.
“Hello?” It was my mother.
“Mom, it’s me. Am I adopted?” I got straight to the point to prove that I wasn’t. All I got was silence.
“Mom?” I asked worriedly.

“Alex, who told you?” She was sniffing. That was not a good sign.

“A friend.” I muttered not giving away Sam. Sam took a step foreword and held his hand for the phone. I gave it to him, hoping that he would get told that he was wrong.
“Julie, it’s me Sam.” I heard silence then shouting down the phone. The convosation went on for a long time and I didn’t make much sense from it and was finally glad when  I got the phone back.
“Mom, are you okay?” I whispered.

“Yes baby I am.” I smiled gently knowing that she was lying.
“Am I really adopted?” I had to know as I was really confused.
“Yes baby, you are. I am so sorry! We were going to tell you when you were seventeen but Sam beat us there first.”

“You know Sam.”
“Yes we do, we also know that you are an assassin. We are retired assassins and Rachel was a close friend of ours and asked us to look after you. We accepted and we have raised you like you were our own.” I just stared at nothing. I was adopted, and they didn’t tell me.

“Alex?” My mom asked worriedly. Or my so called mom. I snapped the phone shut hanging up on her and turned to face Dean, Sam and my own mother. They all looked wary.
“Who else knows about it?” I asked coldly. I had no answer.
“Answer me!” I yelled making them flinch.
“The whole agency.” Sam said quietly.
“The whole agency?” I screamed, and then faced Dean.
“You knew about this?” He just nodded sadly. “And you never told me?”

“I wasn’t allowed Alex. I wanted to, but all had to swear to an oath until they were ready. I am so sorry!” I couldn’t believe it! I had trusted him and all this time he had lied to me.

“Don’t Dean. I don’t wanna hear it.” I strode foreword, hobbling slightly. Sam caught my arm at the door and I shrugged it off.
“Don’t touch me.” I growled.
“Where are you going?” He looked at me angrily. I allowed my own anger to flare.

“I am going somewhere where people don’t lie to me. Especially people like you. Now get off me you bastard!” I yanked my arm out of his grip and strode out of the office and agency. I grabbed a spare set of keys from the inside of the door and left the building. I found the Lamborghini I was looking for and got in and sped away. I had to get away from there. They had all lied to my face, all these years. No one had bothered to tell me. I could trust no one. I headed towards the outskirts of town and floored it when I got onto the highway. Raced towards my apartment.
