Genevieve's POV:
I just finished my first week at the new school. It wasn't too horrible, although the only friend I really made was Peter. He seems like someone who might just stick around though. Only time will tell. I'm just looking forward to finally getting to relax. I hear a knock on my door, I spoke to soon. "Come in" I call out and Fury walks in, closing the door behind him. "Learned to knock?" he ignores my comment."I'm sure you're wanting a break. A new school can be-" I cut him off before he could finish "A pain in the ass? Yeah now imagine being forced into it" I say rolling my eyes and laying down. "I was going to say exhausting but that works too." he smiles. "Well pack up your stuff and meet me at the car" without giving me time to respond, he leaves the room. I can finally go back home! What changed his mind suddenly? Did those lunatics finally realize that Im just a regular teenage girl? I don't care enough to ask questions, I just want to go home.
After packing everything up, I take it all to the car Fury was leaning against. We both get in and he starts driving. About 10 minutes in I realize that he took me here in a ship, not a car. "Why are we driving me back home when you got me with a ship?" I ask while leaning forward and staring at the back of his head. "Genevieve, when did I ever say I was taking you home? All I said was pack your stuff. You aren't going home."
I sigh and sit back in my seat again, crossing my arms. "Where are we going then?" I stare out the window. He stops at a red light and turns back to face me, "You are going to be meeting the Avengers." Did I hear him correctly? I shoot my head up and my heart feels like it forgot how to operate. I don't have any powers, why am I meeting them? I don't think any of this is a good idea. Disappointing this asshat isn't a problem, but the Avengers? That's going to be embarrassing.
We pull up to the side of the tower where the Avengers stay. "Why am I even here? I have nothing to offer them" I mumble as I grab my bags out of the trunk. Fury helps me grab a couple, "You do, we just haven't triggered yet. They can help you do that here. The quicker you accept that you have a gift, the sooner they'll start up" we start walking through the doors.
I hear yelling from up stairs. "Should we be here? They seem like they have other things going on" I look over to Fury. He keeps walking without acknowledging me. "Tony, the frog isn't actually a frog!" Steve Rogers comes into my view. "Then who the hell is he?! I'm telling you that it's just a talking frog!" Tony Stark is next to him yelling back. Natasha Romanoff, Thor, and Bruce Banner are all sitting down laughing.
"He's the prince Tony! It's a curse! It literally tells us, how are you confused?!" this first impression is absolute gold. Tony is about to continue yelling but Fury let's out a fake cough. All of their heads turn towards me. "How long have you been there Fury?" Tony questions. I try to hide my laughter but Fury turns towards me trying to do the same and we both start cackling. "Long enough I see" Natasha stands up.
"You must be Genevieve!" Thor brings me into a tight hug. "Yes I am. It great to meet all of you." Natasha walks over and puts her arm around me, "We're going to get along well." She seems nice, not to mention that I've seen what she can do. She is a total bad ass. Bruce introduces himself as well and is very kind to me, causing strange looks from the rest. Everyone always says that he isn't angry like hulk but that he still doesn't get along with many people. "I'm Steve Rogers" he kisses my hand. I guess being born in 1918 can take part in the way someone acts, huh.
Tony Stark comes over to me last. "I'm Tony Stark, sure you knew that already. I mean, I am Iron Man and all" he chuckles and leans against the wall. He's as cocky as I imagined him. I roll my eyes, "No, I don't believe that I have." He narrows his eyes at me for a moment before chuckling. He's right, everyone knows who he is. But I'm not about to fs girl over him like everyone else does. I got to admit that he's very attractive though. I would be cocky if I looked like that too.
Genevieve, get that thought out of your head right now. You're here to prove Fury wrong, not to drool over Iron Man. I hear the front door open down stairs and a few strange noises. Suddenly, Spider-Man is landing beside the Avengers. "How many times have I told you not to leave your webs lying around?!" Tony turns to him. Spider-Man rubs the back of his neck, "Sorry sir. I'll clean them up." It just clicked that I'm about to figure out who Spider-Man is. I'm going to faint.
Authors note: (Yes, I know that it isn't a secret in the movies but I like the idea of it)
"Genevieve? What are you doing here?" Spider-Man turns to me. How does he know who I am? That's when he takes off his mask. Oh my god, Peter Parker is spider man?? "Peter? I think you left a thing or two out when you told me about yourself" I say as I cross my arms and walked to him. He gives me his dorky smile, "I don't recall you saying you were a superhero either." He gives me a tight hug.
"I'm not, but Mr. Psycho up there doesn't seem to believe me so here I am" I motion to Fury and he rolls his eyes. "She does, and that's why she's here. I need you to help her find out what they are and begin controlling them." Peter puts his arm off my shoulder and puts me into a head lock, "We can manage that sir." If I wasn't so tired I would punch him for this.
I see the team looking at each other and whisper. Did I miss something? "Is this the girl you've been talking about? The new one at your school?" Natasha asks with a smirk on her face. I look over at him and he's burning red. Oh boy, this is going to bring nothing but problems. Don't get me wrong, he's cute and all. But definitely not my type. He's too...nice. I know that sounds stupid but it's true. "You never know when to shut your mouth, do you" he bumps Natashas arm.
I notice Tony looking me up and down slowly. The second I look at him he takes his eyes off me. Do I have something on my face? I wipe my mouth, nope. Well alright then. Fury gives me his number and says to call if I need anything. Before walking out he leans into my ear, "That's a fake number, I really don't care if you need anything." He pats my shoulder and leaves. Wow, he should get an award for being a dick.
Natasha shows me to my room and helps me get settled in. We walk downstairs and I start to get to know them all, they ask me about my family but I redirect the conversation. It's something I've learned to do since it's a touchy subject for me. My parents were never around, all I ever had was my best friend. My memories are all pretty blurry and some of them don't make sense but I try not to think about it. The past is over with. Tony avoids talking to me and leaves the room not long after I sit down. What is his problem?
Eventually everyone went to bed besides Peter and I. We stay up talking until around 11pm. "It's getting late, I'm gonna head up to my room" I get off of the couch. "Oh yeah, you're right. I- uh- I should be going to bed too." We say our good nights and head to my bedroom. I'm really not that tired, but I have a lot of homework.
Before I close my door I catch Tony leaning against a door frame down the hall, I assume it's his room. I stop and wave goodnight. He closes the door without waving back. I do my homework for about a hour but I barely got anything done. It's bugging me that Tony acts so strange with me. He doesn't act like this with the rest of them, I know I'm new and all but it's obvious. I just hope it all changes soon. I'm not too keen on people acting like this with me.
