Chapter 35: family reunion

Genevieve's POV:
"What did he just call you?" Tony questions from another couch as he looks between me and my family. "It almost hurts my feelings that you haven't told them about me sis" Bucky smirks. "You have- have no right to call me that" I stutter. "You're a monster just like our parents. Together we could've destroyed them."

He lets out a loud laugh and rolls his eyes, "You're exactly how I remember you, still a weak little girl." I feel a slight pull on my pants and then it clicks, Wanda is here. Fuck! "Mommy, what's going on?" she whispers up to me. My family's eyes all move to her and they immediately look at one another to smirk. They can fuck with me all they want but they aren't laying a finger on my little girl.

"I need you to teleport yourself back to our old house okay? No one is there, you'll be safe but I need you to go right now. I'll be there soon" I explain and shield her from the rest. She nods her head and disappears from the room. "So, a kid huh? We really do need to catch up" my mom laughs.

I take a step closer to them, "You will stay the hell away from her or I will rip every single one of you apart slowly." Loki grabs my wrist before I step any farther, "Control yourself darling. Don't let them win this." They're heads all turn to Loki with a confused expression on their faces. "Loki, you seem very close with my daughter. How long have you known where she is?" my father questions. What's that all about?

Loki clears his throat and looks at the floor, "Since she ran away from here." Pepper looks to my parents, "I meant to report this to the two of you but a lot has been going on around here." I have never been more confused in my entire life. "Wait, report to them? What is going on here anymore because I'm lost" Tony speaks up.

Pepper smiles to him, "I did love you Tony, truly. No part of our relationship was fake for me." I roll my eyes, that's not what he asked. My parents react to her words the same as I did. "We knew of Peppers...obsession with you and used it to get you away from our daughter. Having you two together is too dangerous for everyone. We called Pepper and recruited her as a part of Hydra in exchange for getting to be with you, she's been working for us the whole time and reporting to us" my mother explains to him.

So this entire time, that's how they knew what was happening in our lives. She's been telling my family every move that I make just so that she can be with Tony. I would say that it's cute if it wasn't completely psychotic. "And what about Cassie? Her dad? How do they play into all of this?" Peter asks. I understand his fear right now, he's just found a connection between his ex girlfriend and Hydra.

"Mr. Jones has been apart of Hydra for years now and Cassie is his biological daughter, she's been involved with us since she was 15. We've known that you would most likely be recruited by the Avengers sometime soon so we placed Jones as a math teacher at the school you would be hopefully go to so he could watch you. It was pure luck that we were right and that you happened to be in his class. We sent Cassie to the party that night with a mission to gain your trust and become your friend. She's been reporting everything back to us as well" my father answered Peters question.

I can't believe this, my best friend was reporting to my parents every time that we hung out. She even got with Peter so that she could continue watching us. I feel extremely betrayed, I can't imagine what Peter feels like right now. This is my fault, I shouldn't have trusted her so quickly.

"So what I'm understanding is that Pepper, Cassie, and Mr. Jones have all been plotting against us this whole time" Peter tried to put all the prices together. Bucky let's out a laugh, "I hate to burst your bubble kid but no one cares about the Avengers or the Guardians of the Galaxy. You guys just got yourself caught in the cross fire."

"And I'm what's being shot for..." I address the elephant in the room. "You're such a smart one sis" Bucky winks over to me. All of this has been my fault, I got the rest of them into this mess. "So what now? Do you expect us to just hand her over to you?" Nat asks.

My Dad looks at her and rolls his eyes, "Do we look stupid to you? Of course we know you won't hand her over. Although we have a feeling that our daughter is smarter than to let her friends die for her." I feel all eyes go onto my immediately. They know that they're right, I can't just let everyone die because of me. I couldn't live with myself if that happened.

"Gen may love and care for us but she isn't an idiot, right Gen?" Tony gestures for me to agree with him. I avoid his eyes and don't say a word, this isn't as easy of a choice as he thinks it is. He means the world to me, I'd rather him live than me any day. "Gen...Don't tell me you're actually considering this! You have a daughter! What about her? What about the team? And what about me?" Tony begins to sound panicked as I don't speak.

"You can't do this Genevieve. I can't let you" Rogers joins in. "Shut the fuck up Cap" Tony quickly fired back. Rogers has no room to pretend like he cares about me, not after what he did to me just yesterday.

"Now really isn't the time to be mad at me for that, I'm trying to protect her" Cap begins to argue. I look up and see my family trying not to laugh, along with Pepper, Cassie, and her father. "I feel like I'm watching a soap opera" my mother laughs.

I roll my eyes and step forward, "I'll go."
