Chapter 30: Jarvis, play

Tony's POV
I was the only one on the team who hadn't answered and I can feel her looking at me. "We never looked for you, why would we? It would be a waste of our valuable time together" Pepper put her hand on my shoulder and i shudder under her touch.

Why in the hell did she have to say that? Gen and I are finally on good terms. Pepper is about to ruin it, again. "Is- is that true?" Gen asks and I still refuse to look up at her. I don't want to see her reaction to what I'm about to say.

"Yes, it's true. I'm sorry but we had a lot going on" I sigh. Obviously that isn't true but I don't know what Pepper will do if I blow up her plans for us. "I understand" Gen responds and gets off of the couch. She starts walking up the stairs to her bedroom when Thor chimes in.

"I'm sorry Tony" I look up at him and furrow my brows. What is he sorry for? He gives me a look as if he's trying to communicate through his eyes. It takes me a second but I realize what he's planning, "Don't do this Thor, we have an agreement." Gen stops walking and turns back to us.

The rest of the boys besides Rogers stand up and everyone else is staring at us. "I will never forgive you guys if you do this" I say in a low tone. What they're planning could ruin everything that I have fought for in the last 7+ years.

Bruce puts his hand on my shoulder, "I won't say it, Jarvis will." I tilt my head and Gen slowly walks back to where we all are. "Am I missing something here?" she asks. Quill puts his hand in hers and smiles. I see Rogers lower his head and sigh. Looks like I'm not the only one wanting this not to happen.

"Jarvis, play the night of the bachelor party" Rocket calls out. I'm going to kill them. "Don't even think about it Jarvis" I quickly continue. There's silence for a moment before we get a response, "Sorry sir, this is for the best." I swear I will replace him with Friday.

A projections starts playing in front of everyone. I sit down and cover my face, there's no way this goes well. The video starts with the girls leaving and all of us going to the living room. Our entire conversation about Gen was shown and when it ended, no one said a word.

I look over to Gen and she just staring at the wall in shock, I really hope I didn't just scare her off. She just heard me say I'm in love and we never said that to each other. Never. Pepper stands up in rage, "I don't know which one makes me angrier, the fact that you told them you love her when I told you not to or that you've been looking for her when I said not to!"

Pepper really just screwed herself over and she hasn't even realized. Gen looks over to her and she looks more furious than I've ever seen her, "What did you just say?!" Everyone's eyes widen and they take a step back, good job calming her down guys. Pepper realizes what she admired and let's out a dry laugh.

"You heard me, I've known about his love for you for ages now. Using someone is a beautiful way to get married, isn't it?" she smirks. Gens eyes turn a bright red and her hands do the same. Like I said, there's no way that was going to go well.

She starts walking towards Pepper but I step in front of her, "Please don't do this. She isn't worth it Gen." Her eyes meet mine and her body relaxes, I'm surprised that worked. Loki and Wanda come back from their lunch and realize that something isn't right.

"What did we miss darling?" Loki asks as he pulls Gen into a hug. Her eyes don't leave mine for a moment until she hugs him back. "I'll tell you later love, how was lunch?" she asks. Wanda tells her about what they ate and how pretty the city is.

"Well I'm glad you had fun honey. I need to have a word with someone for a moment" she kisses Wandas head and motions for me to go upstairs. "Where the hell do you think you're going?!" Pepper calls out. "None of your business bitch" Gen responds and I try to hide my chuckle. I've missed her so much.

We go into her room and sit down on her bed. "So I think that we should have a conversation about that" she says whilst looking to the floor. I nod my head and sigh, "You weren't supposed to hear about that Gen. I'm sorry." She lets out a dry chuckle and rolls her eyes at me, "And why not? What was I not supposed to know about this?"

I have two options here. I can tell her everything and risk someone being hurt or I can not tell her but possibly lose her forever. Making this decision is the hardest thing to do because I could lose her either way.

"If I tell you the truth, you could get hurt" I feel tears building up in my eyes. She looks at me with a confused expression on her face but rubs my cheek, "Tell me. Everything will be okay." I try to give her a small smile as I hold her hand.

"The night that I called Pepper, it wasn't because I wanted to. Your parents had followed us and found out about our relationship relationship. They threatened me to call Pepper or else they would kill you, I could let that happen. Pepper also followed us and had pictures of it. She has other loads of blackmail on me. It's the only reason I'm with her" I explain everything to her.

Her eyes widen as she tries to process everything that I just said. Finally she squeezed my hand, "I wish you would have told me sooner Tony but I completely understand why you didn't. What should we do?" I think for a moment, I don't know what would be the best outcome.

"How about this. I stay with Pepper until I can figure out how to fix my situation. You be with Rogers, at least give him a chance. He really cares for you and we have no idea how long this could all take. I can tell you have some feelings for him and I want to to try it out. Maybe he's what is best for you" I give her a weak smile.

I want her all to myself but I can't make her sit and wait for me. She deserves every ounce of happiness in the world, even if her happiness doesn't come from me. She nods her head slowly and stand up, we have a long hug before we step back downstairs. Rogers looks worried and Pepper looks pissed, everyone else just seems confused.

"Don't worry guys we're still good friends. Pepper, I have my eyes on someone else so you can keep him" Gen explains and gives Pepper a fake smile. Roger gets a huge grin on his face, this already hurts me. If it takes me hurting you make her happy then whatever. I guess I just have to watch it all play out.
