Chapter 44: One shot

Genevieve's POV:
"I've been biding my brother" I finally let it out. Tony's face drops at my words, "Your brother? As in Bucky? The one who literally tried to kill all of us including you?" I shake my head and begin to pace again, they need to understand this. He isn't the monster they all see him as. He's such a caring person and I hate how the rest don't get that.

"There's a lot more that you don't know. He's the one who saved me from Hydra. Bucky was given the chance to leave but he let me go instead. I've been visiting him every morning to get our bond back. He's an amazing person who was just out in a horrible situation. He doesn't enjoy doing what he does" I rant to them. Tony seems more angry than the rest but I understand why. He only sees Bucky as my brother who tried to kill me.

They all get up and stare at me like I'm an idiot. "You can't keep seeing him, he's manipulating you into believing his mind games Genevieve" Steve demands. I scoff and glare at him, "You sure are one to talk about mind games Rogers."

He takes a step closer to me, "I cheated on you,  I didn't try to kill you. There's a big difference there." The rest nod their heads in agreement with him words. I can't believe this. "He had no choice but to try killing me, there's also a big difference. Wether or not you guys like it I will continue to see him, he's trust worthy. Now either you guys agree to give him a chance and let him live here or I will take Wanda and go help him myself" I threaten.

Tony paces the room and lets out a sigh, "Fine. He can live here." A smile immediately appears on my face until he speaks again, "On one condition." My face drops, what is he wanting? If he tries to lock Bucky up I won't hesitate to slap the shit out of him. "He will have to come on any missions we ask of him and he will respect us all" he requests. That's not nearly as bad as I was expecting from him right now. The poor guy thought I was cheating. To be fair, he was waking up to me randomly leaving every morning so I can't blame him.

"Yes, of course. He would do both of those any ways love, Bucky is a great guy" I agree. Bucky heads right back to his Hydra base after we meet so there's no chance of him being questioned or punished so I can't tell him about this now. I just can't believe I finally get the chance to repay him for saving me all of those years ago. He's never completely agreed to it but I will do anything I can to convince him to live with us, it's what he deserves. The team may hate him now but that's because they don't truly know him, they'll see soon how amazing he is.

"Thank you so much honey, I'll tell him the news tomorrow morning. How about we spend the day together, just you and me? The team can watch the kids" I feel bad for not telling him the truth about the visits in the first place. He nods his head so I take his hand and walk up the stairs with him. "I'm really sorry I made you think I was cheating, I love you and I would never do such a thing" I reassure him. The thought of worrying him in this way never even crossed my mind. "It's alright darling, I should've talked to you about it before jumping to conclusions" he defends. We spend the day with each other and fall asleep cuddling for the first time in over a week.

I wake up and throw on my clothes before heading downstairs for my morning cup of coffee. Right as I finish my cup I hear someone coming down the stairs, no one ever down here right before I visit him. Tony walks into the kitchen fully dressed and leans against the counter, "I'm coming with you." I fish washing my glass and look up towards him, "Why is that?" He comes up to me and takes my grands in his while looking into my eyes. I love our moments like this, they mean the world to me. "I can tell how much he means to you. He may not be my favorite person right now but I want to try my best to welcome him here" he confesses. This is why I love this man.

I kept our hands intertwined and teleport us to the field. Bucky is laying down with his eyes closed a few feet away, "Hi my little daisy." Tony raises an eyebrow and looks over to me, Bucky is the only other person to have a nickname for me that I allow. Bucky opens an eye to see why I haven't lated down beside him and he notices Tony. He jumps up quickly and takes a step back, "Whats going on here?" I let go of Tony and walk up to Buck with a big smile on my face. He still looks confused as I give him a hug, not breaking the eye contact he was holding with Tony.

"The team found out about our visits and I got them to agree on letting you stay with us in our compound" I say excitedly. He pulls himself away from me, "You're joking right?" He stares into my eyes and realizes I'm being serious. He shakes his head and sighs while turning his back to me. "You know I can't leave Genevieve. I'm trapped in this family and escaping could put you and everyone you love in danger." he paces back and forth in front of us.

I look back at Tony who just stand there with his hands in his pockets and shrugs towards me. "I understand all of that Bucky but that isn't what matters. I want my big brother back, I want my daughter to have an uncle. Please do this for me" I say. All he worries about is everyone else, it's never about what he needs or wants. He deserves to have someone stand up for him finally. He's been alone all of these years, this is the least I could do. Bucky stops in his tracks at my words, "Fine. I'll do this for you and the kid." I slide wide and jump into his arms and give him a kiss on the forehead.

"Wanda" I hear Tony say quietly behind me. Bucky looks up to him as we hug, "What?" Tony takes a step forward and I let go of Buck to get out of the way, "My kids name is Wanda. You can get as close as you want with her but you better stay if you do because if you hurt my girlfriend or my daughter you're dead." Bucky nods his head slowly and reaches out for a hand shake, "I respect that." Tony accepts and they shake hands, Tony instantly grunts in pain so I run by his side.

"Sorry, I forget about the metal arms sometimes" Bucky cringes while watching Tony hold his hand. "No, I'm fine. I'm fine" he tries to reassure all of us and hide his pain though it's written all over his face. I laugh and hold both of their hands and teleport us to the compound. The rest of the team is eating breakfast as we land beside them. All eyes go directly to Bucky and I feel his hand get tense in mine. I rub it with my thumb gently to comfort him and offer a smile which he returns. "As you all know, this is my brother Bucky and he will be staying with us" I announce to the rest.

Wandas head perks up, "Isn't this the bad guy that helped take Loki?" I squeeze Bucky and Tony's hands without realizing is as his name leaves her lips. A panic attack starts to overcome me but I push it down as hard as I can. "No honey, he's not like the others. He had nothing to do with Loki being gone now Wanda" I calmly say. She nods her head, "If he's your brother then wouldn't that make him my uncle?" I force a smile onto my face but can't seem to get words out of my mouth. Bucky takes a step closer to her, "Yes, I'm your uncle Bucky."

She takes him to her old room, she must've moved all of her things out into her room when we left. There was a bed and dresser inside for him. They spent the day together as she showed him around. No one else besides me said a word, they aren't too excited about the new member but I know they'll warm up to him eventually.
