"Oi," Julian whispers to me.
I turned my head to Julian, seeing him leaning closer to me - so I did the same - waiting for him to speak again.
"I think mommy is really worried about you," He muttered.
I took a glance at Penelope (seeing that she wasn't really into her food) playing with the mashed potato with her fork whilst leaning her head on her hand depressingly.
I notice from my observation that she would sigh in a depressing way that would make me feel a bit guilty for not noticing it earlier. So, taking a deep breath, I averted my gaze to Julian. "Yeah I know and I feel a bit guilty," I pouted.
Seeing that it was true, Julian smiled sincerely before pinching my cheek - as if I was the younger one here.
"Is aunty Jade going to apologise" Julian questioned, letting go of my cheek while I chuckled. "Probably not yet," I said, patting his head, "But you should continue eating or else I won't play with you," I told him.
He gasped shock. Covering his open mouth seconds later before sitting properly in his chair, consuming as much as he could until his stomach exploded.
I chuckled by his actions before I began to dig in.

Once dinner was over, we all placed our plates in the sink while Penelope (being the oldest one here) was washing them while Marcus was helping her with wiping the dishes dry. Meanwhile, I was in charge of taking care of Julian, playing our own special game - 'Warriors & Damsels'.
"But that's unfair," Julian pouted, "You're supposed to be the princess that needs help," he explained.
I laughed. "But not all princesses are damsels," I told him, standing up from his bed.
"So,?" Julian answered, "Even though that may not be the case, it just feels good to rescue someone," Julian said with such confidence while I sighed by his illusion.
"You know that in real life, there are people that save themselves because no one is willing to save them," I said from experience, thinking about my own love life - trying to forget about dating for now.
"Sorry, I'm not talking about your love life," Julian told, making my mouth open for a moment before scoffing at his sass right now. "Oi," I said warning him to back off that touchy subject, "Just because our gene gave you that sassiness does not mean you can use it on me," I talked back, sitting back down on the bed.
"Why can't I?" Julian talked back before picking up his toys that he left laying around the room.
The room that I was in was now filled with disrespect and sass while I sat there bewildered - questioning - why he was acting like this?
"What's wrong with you?" I asked, feeling 'worried' crawling up my skin. "Why are you acting like this?" I added.
He didn't bother saying anything as I continued to observe him (seeing that he was still packing the toys away) displaying nothing but his backside as his silence was an act and symbol of his rebellion. Huh, I wasn't like this, what has Penelope been teaching him?. I thought long and hard about his quiet state, leading me to believe that he was doing this because of what I said earlier.
"Is it because of what I said just now,?" I pray.
He didn't respond; granting me to continue to hear silence playing through our ears. "Why are you keen on me to be a damsel in distress?" I questioned, beginning to interrogate him more.
