Chapter 5: Who Did I Just Date?

Stepping outside of my apartment building, I moved towards the side (away from the entrance) to wait for Luke.

"I hope this is okay," I thought, feeling unconscious about myself.

I look down at my shoes as I sway side to side like a carefree child, playing with the ends of my hair as I continue to wait for Luke.

Ring~ Ring

Retrieving my phone from my purse, I slide the green icon to the otherside without looking at the caller's name.

"Hello," I answered.

"Hi,"

Hearing the familiar voice, I move my phone away from my ear to see the words 'Lucas' on the caller ID.

"Hi, where are you? I can't see you right now," I told him, looking left and right to find him.

"I'm at the corner, I can see you...look to your left"

I shifted to my left to find Luke sitting in his car, waving at me. Seeing this, I smiled and waved back before ending the call to stroll closer and open the car door.

"Wow~ you got a nice car," I complimented, hopping in to sit on the passenger seat.

He chuckled at my compliment before glancing at the slightly busy road.

"The reunion is near your apartment, so it won't take that long," He informed me, starting the engine.

I nodded whilst putting on my seatbelt before fully relaxing into the seat. It's quite comfy. "Ready?" He asked.

I faced him, showing my determination before I answered. "Ready,".

               Hearing my statement, he commenced on the road as I heard the sound of calm music playing on the radio. It was tranquil as I wanted to break the silence; however, I didn't want him to lose his concentration on the road. However, whilst the silence was still there, I felt my phone buzzing, causing me to look at it.

JAMES: I'm already here, and I saved you a seat next to me.

[Thank you 😄]

[I owe you one]

JAMES: You don't need to owe me anything, but I may need a favour later on

[You got it, James]

JAMES: What are friends for, right? 👍

Before I could type anything back, I was distracted by Luke's voice.

"We're here,".

The engine stopped as I diverted my attention away from my phone and peered through the window to see the bar that straight away blended with the night sky. The neon words 'Bright Sun Bar' became the salient image.

"Woah, I never knew this bar existed," I said aloud, eliciting a laugh from Luke that I heard from the driver's seat.

"You've never been to this bar before?" He questioned, unbuckling his seat belt.
