"yo, miguel, calm down, man. save some for the tournament." hawk told miguel, who was practicing punches. miguel only ignored hawk and went back to punching the air.
all of cobra kai were standing outside the tournament building, waiting for johnny.
"hey, don't even bother." aisha told hawk, who had his arm around you. "he's been super aggro ever since the break up." she continued. "where's sensei? he should've been here by now." you asked the group, looking around. "he'll be here." aisha said, not even worried. "i don't know about that." bert told the group, shaking his head. you turned your head to bert, "what're talking about?" you asked the boy, confused.
"i saw him last night at the mini-mart. i was buying...a carton of milk." he told the group. he then went on to talk about johnny being drunk and pissing on a car. "bert, why didn't you say anything?" you asked the kid. he only shrugged his shoulders, murmuring an "i don't know, i didn't think it would be a big deal, he's always drunk."
"well, we're here and he's not. so, it's officially a big deal. what if something happened to him?" hawk yelled at bert, slightly scaring the boy. "calm down, he'll be here." you told hawk softly, pressing a hand on his chest.
"like what?" bert questioned. " i don't know. like her drove his car off a cliff or bought a gun and blew his brains out." hawk spoke, calmer. "no, sensei would never kill himself. that's too pussy a move." aisha said. "whatever. we're here. we're gonna have to do it without him." hawk shrugged.
you noticed a figure walking up to you guys and you let out a sigh of relief. removing hawk's arm from around your shoulder, you ran up to johnny giving him a hug. "holy fuck, we thought you weren't gonna show." you told him, stepping out of the hug. "i may not always win, but i never back down from a fight." the older man spoke out. "great. let's sign up." miguel spoke, a bit agitated. "not yet. there's still one more lesson i need to teach you." johnny spoke out.
---------------------------
"you've all learned to strive first, be aggressive, not be losers. I taught you to strike hard, put every ounce of your power behind everything you do. but i haven't taught you the third rule of cobra kai. "no mercy." the older you get, the more you're gonna learn that life isn't fair. you wake up one morning feeling great, and then life throws you a spinning heel kick to your balls, takes a big steaming shit in your mouth." johnny told the group. you agreed with everything he was saying, but the analogies were weird. "you get an "F" on a test, you get suspended. you fall in love with a girl, some other dude comes and steals her away." johnny spoke. you looked at miguel when johnny mentioned falling in love with a girl. he looked sad at first then angry.
"car gets set on fire. just when you think things are going good, everything falls apart. that's how it goes." johnny continued. you furrowed your eyebrows at how specific johnny was being, like he was speaking from experience. johnny finished his speech and you were all ready to go.
----------------------------------
"and fighting unaffiliated, we have robby keene." the announcer spoke. you, miguel, and hawk all looked confused as to why he was here and competing.
"hey, maybe eli was right. you will get to kick his ass." you told the hispanic boy next you, laughing. he let out a snort in response.
" alright folks! get ready, it's karate time!" the announcer told the crowd, signaling the tournament was about to start.
miguel was first to fight, but before he stepped onto the mat johnny whispered something in this ear. "face me, bow. face each other, bow." the referee told the boys. miguel then got into the karate kid position and kicked his opponent in the face, earning him a point.
