Chapter 17 - Let's Pay A Little Visit....

Lilia

"We're going to do what now?!" I exclaimed when Vladmir had explained the plan.

"You heard me." The blonde sounded a little fed up with my overexagerated reactions. "Severn has targeted Forks for the battle grounds and the Volturi agreed upon the location. Most likely, those filthy vampires are planning on taking Alice and Edward for their own during the fight. We can't let them do that or the entire world is doomed." he explained. "And so," he got to the part where he had to repeat himself. "We're taking the fight to him."

"There, we'll intercept the Alp-man before he ever reaches Forks." Stefan finished.

"But there's only six days left. How are we going to find their lair and get there in that time?" I asked.

"We already know where his lair is," Vladmir replied with a grin.

"and getting there and in will be the easiest part." Stefan beamed alongside his partner.

"Which means the hard part will be left to me." I frowned. "Thanks."

"If I were you," the blonde ignored my words, "I'd head over to Severn's right away. The faster you can de-throne him, the faster you can stop the Volturi from fighting right on top of your adopted family's little home."

"Okay, I'll go." I gave up with a sigh. It didn't sound like I'd convince them anytime soon.

"I'll go with you." Tiernam stepped up quickly, as if he was afraid I'd fly off without him.

Karissa looked at me sarcastically. "You can count me out."

"I had already planned to." I retorted with my arms folded across my chest.

"You'll need more than just two," Emmett began to come forward, but Carlisle stopped him.

"No, we'll need you here if Lilia's plan fails." the doctor told him, giving a sideway glance to me to say no offence. "I'll ask around the nomads we're harboring and see if any of them feel like aiding." he excused himself from the group directly after, heading off to another part of the house.

When he came back, four people were behind him.

"Peter and Charlotte were the only nomads who agreed to help." Carlise spoke as if he was apologizing.

"Don't worry, I've been itching for a little action." The male, Peter, rolled his shoulders like he was doing stretches. "You get bored of the simple life after you've experienced it full throttle."

"And I've gotten a little lazy myself." Charlotte added to her partner. "I need something to keep me on my toes."

Their explanations aside, I wanted to know why four people were behind the doctor when he only said that Peter and Charlotte were the only nomads he could recruit. As if they had read my mind, the other two stepped forward.

"We only came down here to check on our cousins for our coven. They were getting restless with all these threats of attack from the Volturi and wanted to know how you were faring." the female voiced, "but we figured, while we were down here, the least we could do was help. Eleazar, Carmen, and Tanya might not be up for any action, but we've always been ready for a fight." she stepped closer to her mate as if to prove her point.

"Plus Stefan and myself, we have a grand total of eight." Vladmir counted him and his partner in. "If there are no further words to be spoken, let us leave."

"Stay safe," Carlisle looked towards his Denali family, "Kate, Garret."

They nodded before turning to join the group that was leaving out the front door. Vladmir and his partner had to be first, so I let them take the lead while I followed close behind. Tiernam stuck to my side like glue while the others filed in after him. As soon as we were clear of the house, the two Romanian brothers flitted. I took off after them once the initial shock of their sudden disappearance had hit me. They hadn't even warned us that they were about to run. The rest of the group followed suit, hurrying after their retreating figures.

We ran in pairs. The couples were talking quietly while the brothers stayed silent. I turned towards Tiernam with no one else to talk to.

"Why'd you come?" I asked.

"Why?" He blinked dumbly. "I don't think I understand."

"You became an Alp merely weeks ago and the only thing you have under control is your flitting." I explained. "How do you plan on fighting the enemy?"

"How do you plan on fighting them?" Tiernam redirected the question.

"I've wrestled with Emmett and learned combat moves from Jaspar." I boasted, smiling at the fond memories. Especially the one where Jaspar taught me how to use muscle's weight against him. He hadn't expected me to flip him onto his back at all. "What do you have to show?" I looked at him expectantly for an answer.

"Well," he mumbled, probably thinking how could he possibly top that. "maybe you could show me." he suggested.

I was miraculously left speechless when he said that. My smile even left my lips.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have...." Tiernam began apologizing, scratching the back of his head nervously and looking away.

"No, it's okay." I shook my head. "It was an innocent enough question." but I knew that it wasn't. Those small words were enough to tell me that he had a crush. I, however, didn't know how to deal with that.

After all, when I was back in New York and human, it had usually been the guy that had ruled the relationship until they inevitably broke it off because of my reluctance. I'd never gotten passed hugs due to my inexperience with dating. Either that or I'd never met the right guy. Perhaps the others just hadn't meant to be.

Tiernam on the other hand......

I remained silent on that topic and watched the trees slip by in slow motion. It still facinated me how the light cast down through the trees and reflected off bits of dust and pollen. My new vision that I'd aquired alone could take me a century to get used to before I stopped being so amazed about it every time.

The Romanian brothers led us passed the forest, towns, and highways. We were too fast for human eyes to follow, so even if we went passed cars packed to the seat with the fleshy beings, they never saw us. Our trip took us all the way to California again. With all this running back and forth, I was getting sick. I hoped that this was our last trip here for a couple of years.

We zipped into Los Angeles and continued to flit until we were at the doorstep of a mansion. The stones up to the double doors were so shiny they appeared to be made out of water. A small pond sat in the middle of the path, hidden behind the grass and foilage. The stone was various shades of tans and browns, with a slate blue roof. There were a few trees, but not many because of its location within the city.

"Let's pay Severn a little visit, shall we?" Vladmir grinned devilishly, standing between us and the mansion.
