Chapter 12 - Worry, Worry, Worry

Lilia

The next couple days I started pacing. Not the normal pacing like back and forth in the living room. I mean my type of pacing, where I walked through each space once and then repeating the process once I'd gone over the entire house. I was trying to think of a plan on how to stop both the Volturi and the alp force, that I had no knowledge of a name yet, at the same time. Every time I thought of one good idea, three bad ones opposed it and such. I didn't think there was a way to stop both of them.

Finally, Edward had enough. "Stop pacing Lilia, you're making me dizzy having to watch and experience you walk all over the place." He spoke up as I passed through the living room.

"Sorry if it's the only way I can think!" I retorted at him.

He didn't try to say a come back to me. Edward already knew how stressed I was to think of a plan before the month was up. Alice and he had told me that that's when the Volturi was requiring all vampire clans to meet up in Volterra. So naturally, that was probably when Aro and his brothers were planning on confronting the Alp force.

Just a month. A month to think of a counter plan to Aro's and Severn's. Two geniuses who had outlived me by hundreds of years and had an army of their own to back their threats up.

Thing's weren't looking up to me.

"Maybe you should take a break." Alice suggested as she came into the room with a blue vase in her hands.

My mind was temporarily distracted. What was with her carrying flower vases all the time? She always seemed to be transporting one somewhere when she had a vision, which resulted in the innocent flower's death. Plus, it created a wet and soily mess on the floor that was a pain to clean up.

"Lilia, I think you do need a rest." Edward broke into my thoughts. "You're thinking too much about everything."

"No I don't." I insisted, but then a big fat yawn rolled through my body. "Darn it." I muttered after it had passed.

"Don't worry about the war. Get a good night's rest and tomorrow will bring new ideas to you." Alice tried to sway my view.

Part of me knew she was speaking reasonablly and lucky for her, that part was dominant right now. "Okay, I'll go to bed." I agreed. "Wake me up......oh wait, you can't. Nevermind." I called over my shoulder as I went to the steps.

I went upstairs to the big bedroom and fell in a heap on the feather bed, blacking out to sleep in less than a minute upon the cloud top.

Karissa

One minute I was shouting at Lilia and the next I was waking up on a couch in an unfamiliar place. Placing my palms flat on either side of myself, I raised myself off the hard surface and took a look at my surroundings. It was quite fancy, with expensive-looking carpet and a plasma screen TV on the opposite wall. I settled down so that I was sitting upright on the couch now, waiting for Lilia or Tiernam to come into sight.

I sat there for a couple minutes during that wait, which gave me plenty of time to think back. I was still mad at Lilia, there was no doubt, but then again she had warned me that I would black out if I didn't sleep. And then I hadn't listened to her. It wouldn't surprise me if she came up to me now and said I told you so. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I had a feeling she had already done so to me when I was unconcious.

Suddenly, someone walked into the room from the right doorway, but it wasn't Lilia or Tiernam. It was a man, a young adult specifically, in a pair of blue jeans and a black jacket covering up a white sweater. He didn't seem surprised to see me awake, but I was scared silly.
