Chapter 13 - The Truth Comes Out

May, thirty first. My last check-up had gone as smoothly as any of the others. No signs of life threatening organ failures or nothing. I was beginning to think that my early death had been a joke. That had been a couple days before my graduation party in early June. Today marked the second week of June, making it two to three months before my supposive death and I still felt fine.

I woke up in the morning feeling the best I've ever been. I know I have to meet my friends at the Dinner and tell them the news, or they'd think something happened to me. I can't run away. So I get up and get dressed like any ordinary day.

I choose to wear a plain light green T-shirt with jeans and a blue sweatshirt on top. I slip into my sneakers at the bottom of the stairs and ask my uncle if I can borrow his car instead of taking my bike. He agrees and lends me the keys.

It's too early in the morning for the resturant to open, so I wait outside in the car until one of the employees pulls up. She unlocks the place and invites me inside to wait for my friends. I start off sitting at the counter on the dinner chairs for one. There, I buy an iced coffe and sip it slowly until it's gone.

When it is, I move to the table I sat with my friends on the last day of school. The woman who's behind the counter is the same lady who took my order, and that's why she lets me in so early. She's recognized me after seeing me once (I'm not very hard to forget. I'm the pale albino girl with white hair, remember?).

The place is busy and packed when my friends arrive near noon. I had been hoping that it would be nice and empty like the other time where there had only been two old men before my friends and I walked in. Anna and Mickie always come together, but they also made sure to pick up Seth. He's as clueless as always and has a big smile on his face like this is just another day hanging out with his friends. My two girl friends haven't told him that I had something important to talk about.

They sit down and we sit there relaxed, listening to Seth talk for a while before Mickie speaks up.

"So what did you want to talk to us about?" She asked, turing to me as soon as we're done laughing at one of his jokes.

It feels like the load of bricks have just been dropped on me again."I was kind-of hoping we could talk together in private." I said, my eyes glancing at all the noisy people around us once.

They take the hint."Come on, I bet First beach is empty. Right Seth?" Mickie says, prompting him.

"Oh, yeah. probably..." He says."Why would we want to go there? There are tons of other places...?" He begins, but never gets to finish.

"Let's go." Anna says, taking him by the arm and dragging him along behind Mickie and I who are walking together by the time she says that.

We climb in Anna's car and drive down to first beach where there is absolutely no one there except for us. I guess when there isn't a planned group gathering, no one shows up here. We get out of the car and walk down the sandy beach to the logs which are worn, but still set up from the earlier times we've been here.

I sit down on one of the logs on the left end and Seth sits to my right at the other. Anna and Mickie sit beside each other on the log to my left that's just slighty positioned so that you can talk to each other.

"So what was it you wanted to talk about?" Mickie asks again once we're all settled."And what did Dr.Cullen mean about 'don't forget your next appointment'?" she adds.
