Chapter 14 - Wake Me Up Inside
Seth
I was allowed to go into the room after Carlisle finished his session with Lilia, who'd been feeling pretty awful the last week of July. I had been afraid that she had been about to go, but it turned out she was still going strong.
The third day of the first week of August was when her heath seemed to go in reverse for a while, letting her sit up in bed again and move limbs freely. It fell again two days later and she was restricted to laying down and having to stare at the cieling or whoever stopped by. That being said, she saw a lot of me. I refused to leave her there at such an important time.
It was killing me to watch her fade away. I'd never imprinted on her as a shape-shifter, but our relationship was close. She was the best gal-friend I've ever had and it tore me at my core to see her lay there emotionlessly, only able to move her head, blink, and wake up and fall asleep.
By the second week of August on a Tuesday, I'd had a panic attack when she didn't wake up for the longest time when I called her name. I had just came in the room and sat down on the stool that her aunt Phelicia had set up for guests. I'd called her name out playfully, but when she didn't stir I freaked out and went downstairs to her aunt and uncle.
They had rushed up the stairs the fastest I'd seen any human run and gone to her side. After Phelicia rubbed her arms some and called her name, her eye lids managed to peel apart to reveal her drained looking pupils. Her aunt and uncle sighed a breath of relief, then returned back downstairs.
Lilia became unable to talk or move her arms by Friday, so she had to respond by either slightly moving her head side to side for no or up and down for yes. Her skin was even paler than before, being a greyish white that even put the Cullen's fair tone to shame. I talked to her often and gave her the most company than anyone else.
At this stage in her death, it was rare for someone other than me and her relatives downstairs to visit her. It was the whole thing about wanting to remember her as she was, and not as the dried out husk she was becoming. I thought of it as abandoning her for their selfish needs of not wanting to see her like this. I wanted to stay with her to the end, and I had promised.
It didn't strike me until Saturday that there was a way to save her. I'd known for a while that she knew something about the Cullens and my tribe, but never known how much. My suspicion had been confirmed the third time at First Beach after the death of Maddison Davis months prior. I decided in my mind to go and ask Carlisle to save her.

"You wouldn't mind telling me why you kept avoiding Lilia at her graduation party now, would you Jasper?" Alice said sharply, turning to her lover.
"I thought you already knew." He replied, not up for arguing.
"I'm the future reader not the mind reader, remember?" She snapped in her cheerful way.
"I've actually been wondering that myself." Edward said from across the room. He had stopped playing his piano to talk, Bella stirring from her pretend close-eyed slumber at the absence of her lullaby."You've kept it hidden from your mind from me." He said simply.
"Fine. It was because her emotions bounced all over the place that it gave me a headache." Jasper huffed."Just thinking about it now makes me want to clench my teeth." He said as creases appeared in his forehead as if another headache had came on.
