Chapter 7 - Time Flies By

"Hey!" Seth said cheerfully when I opened the door.

Anna and Mickie were behind him, waiting for me to invite them in.

"Come on in." I waved.

My three friends stepped into the empty house."Where's your aunt and uncle?" Anna said, looking around as if they were going to jump up from behind a chair.

"Phelicia works at the antique shop downtown and Tom is a cop, so he's away most of the time." I explained as I lead them to the stairs.

"So you get your house to yourself most the time?" Anna questioned.

The way she had said that put me in suspicion.

"Yeah, my aunt leaves in the morning and doesn't come back until evening when the shop closes. Uncle tom leaves early and comes back late." I answered with a careful tone."Why?"

"Oh, nevermind." She said innocently.

"You're not going to have a party here." I told her as we went up the stairs.

"How do you know I was going to plan something like that?" Anna said, putting a hand to her chest as if trying to prove herself innocent.

"The very way you said that makes me think you still are planning something." I countered.

"Fine. We won't do it right away." She said, lifting her chin."But that doesn't mean I'm going to throw a party for you sometime this year."

Parties were okay to me, I didn't really like them but it was nice to meet other people. However, I think the party in mind that Anna was thinking of was going to be the ones I really disliked. I actually thought that my early death was more of a goal for a second.

We reached the top of the steps and walked down the hall to my room on the front corner of the house. My friends followed me eagerly, wanting to see my talent for themselves. I opened the door and let them walk in first.

"Woah! This is AMAZING!" Seth remarked, the first one to walk in.

"This is soooo cool." Anna said crouching down, looking at one of my drawings in particular.

"Awww!" Mickie cooed, seeing one of my pictures that I had drawn of a cute little kitten.

I walked in last. It wasn't like I hadn't seen them already before. In my eyes, I did think they were impressive but after a while you forget how good you are. They bombarded me with commpliments.

"How much is the wittle kitty?" Mickie asked with a baby voice, pointing at the picture.

"For you..." I sighed, smiling and looking up."Twenty five bucks."

She reached into her purse and pulled out the money needed. All my finished drawings were stapled to canvas boards, already sealed up in a clear plastic so that the graphite wouldn't wipe away.

"Sold." I said as she handed me the money. For now I shoved it into my pocket.

Finally, I had money to go and develope my pictures that I had been taking for the last few weeks.

"These really are amazing, Lilia." Anna emphazied, standing in the middle of my room by my bed.

My parents had been able to send my drawings at home through the mail so that I could have them. It must have cost a ton, because all together there was thirty of them. Twenty nine, now that my friend had bought the kitten off of me. Most of them were in my room, leaning up against the walls or sitting on top of a piece of furnature. The others, the ones my aunt had liked, were hanging up in the downstairs hallway to her and my uncle's room, so that she could see them everyday when she went to go make breakfast for us.
