Quiet

Li Jun remembers Lou clearly. He'd been long dead at the bottom of the river somewhere, and yet, Li Jun is still short of ten million yuan.

His face heated with fury, all that work for nothing. Long hours of torture and he still came up empty handed.

"So, where's the money?"

"I don't know boss, but it turned out he was also working for Kin Pin."

"Kin Pin?" Li Jun echoed.

He chewed on his lip. "Who the heck is kin pin?" Li Jun had never heard of the man before. He knew new group gangs tend to form here and there, but he'd been pretty good at eradicating anyone who posed threat to his business soon as he can.

Li Jun eyed Li Er carefully advising him to choose his words wisely. "He's a new gangster we're keeping an eye on at the station. No one big, has four or five people at his disposal."

"Are you telling me this Kin Pin stole my money?"

Li Er swallowed a nervous spit. Li Jun has the tendency to be overwhelmingly intimidating when he talks business. "I'm pretty sure he's the one."

Lin and Shin were sitting on the family room watching a show on tv. Their hips are not touching but the distance they have was suspiciously close. Li Jun noticed this about the two lately, they'd been spending more and more time together.

More time than he gets to spend with her.

Four years ago he would have lost his mind over it, but now, he hardly give a shit.

He walked passed them without saying anything. He meant for his footsteps to be quiet not wanting to disturb the two. He'd been considering a thought anyway, especially after Janet decided to stay in Philippines a little while longer.

Something about her mother being on a waiting list for surgery. She needed to stay so she can take care of her. Shin on the other hand was continuously sending his monetary support like he's obligated to pay her alimony.

Good god, those two are not even married yet.

Li Jun tried to talk to Shin about it but decided it's better to stay out of his son's relationship. He's an adult now.

"Li Jun, you're home." Lin's voice grabbed his attention. He turned instinctively at the sound of his name being called.

"Why are you being so quiet?" She asked with a lift of her eyebrows.

"It's been a long day at work." He said simply.

"Wanna talk about it?"

He remained still and silent. His work is never a topic of discussion. Lin knew that. Unless she wants to hear about how Cho cut someone's finger on his order? Then, he'd tell her all about it.

Her face flattened. It was a dumb question. Li Jun never talks about what happens at his work.

His gaze flicked over to Shin. "How's Janet?" He asked, it was his attempt to spark a small conversation with his son.

Shin shrugged, without as much as looking at him. "She's alright."

Same answer he uttered last time. He still hated Li Jun for sending him abroad and stealing his first love from under his nose.

Li Jun closed his eyes feeling the tension in the family room started to suffocate him, he started to turn his back again. "I'm tired. I would like to go get some rest."
