I woke up to that stupid noise that sounds like hell on earth that was blaring through the speakers of my alarm clock. I groaned, not looking forward to the day ahead of me. Don't get me wrong; I love getting out of the house but school is just a complete drainer. Once I finally gained the energy to roll out of bed, I took a quick shower and brushed my teeth before heading downstairs.

"Morning! I was starting to think you slept through your alarm cause you were taking so long." My mom greeted me as I entered the kitchen.

"Very funny Mom, good morning to you too." I said to her, half rolling my eyes.

"I'm making breakfast, you want some toast or something?" she asked and I internally groaned.

"No thanks, I'm not really hungry. Besides, if I don't leave now I'm gonna be late." I said to her. It wasn't a complete lie, I'm not that hungry, and I would be late to school if I didn't leave in the next five minutes. I have my precious ten minutes I spent trying to get out of bed to blame for that.

"Oh and by the way Julia, I heard Nick moved back here." My mom said, smiling sweetly at me. Nick was my only friend, and I know your thinking that must be an exaggeration but it truly isn't. What's even more surprising is that I used to be popular. Yeah, I know it's weird right? Freshman year, I was nice to everyone, and that ended with me becoming popular. However that went very downhill fast. I don't even know what happened, it's like they started a cult and just decided to never speak to me again. So there I was, everyone knew who I was but no one actually cared; besides Nick of course. He was my boy best friend and I was eternally grateful for him but after his mom died he and his dad moved out of town so quick and we've never spoken since. I tried messaging him but they never went through.

"Really?" I asked cautiously. I didn't know whether what I was told could be true, they left town so abruptly I didn't even get to talk to him and I had no idea what happened till the day I went to his house, only to be told by the moving company that they were gone.

"That's what I've been told. Just keep an eye out." She said. I didn't know how to feel about him possibly being back. He didn't even say goodbye to me.

"Okay, well I'm off, cya!" I shouted out as I headed for the door and started the long walk to my school.
