I woke up extremely confused. I look around to be met with a bland room that certainly wasn't my own, the walls painted a dark grey and decorated lightly with a few posters here and there. The sun was shining brightly through the open blinds, not helping the feeling I have of just being blinded. I take a deep breath and sigh, relishing in how peaceful it is with the soft hum of birds chirping, but not the annoying fuckers. Suddenly the door opens, making me jump from the sudden movement. I immediately direct my gaze to the door, to see a shirtless Nick shutting the door with his foot, as his hands held a tray full of food and coffee. I can't help but let my eyes trail his body, noticing a scar on the side of his stomach. How have I not noticed that before? I take a mental note of it to ask later.
"Good morning trouble maker." He said, smiling softly. His voice was rough signalling he had woken up not too long ago and his messy hair further proved my thoughts to be true. He sat down beside me on the double bed, taking what I assume is his share of breakfast and putting it on the desk next to his bed before pushing the tray towards me.
"I made your coffee how I think you'd like it, based on what I can recall. Just let me know if you don't though and I can remake it." He said handing the coffee to me. So I simply nodded and said thank you, slightly scared of what he put in it to infest it with calories. And just looking at the piece of toast, scrambled eggs and bacon he had generously made was enough for me to know that this was definitely all I'd be eating today, even if I didn't eat all of it.
"Don't worry Miss Lactose Intolerant, I went out and bought almond milk last night in case you ever stayed over, so don't be glaring at that coffee like it's gonna kill you." He said before picking up a piece of bacon and putting it on his toast. I noticed that he had two pieces of toast, and noticeably a bit more of everything else too. He started constructing a sandwich-like structure out of his food when I finally caught onto what he said. I was glaring at my coffee? Wait; he bought almond milk for me? My head shot up at that realisation giving him a questioning look, fighting a smile that was about to break out across my face.
"You bought me almond milk?" I squeaked out. He looked up and nodded, shrugging it off and claiming it wasn't a big deal. I look down at my coffee. He bought almond milk; because I was lactose intolerant, and hell he didn't even buy it this morning he bought it yesterday. I took a sip of my coffee without hesitation, met with the flavour of my old caramel coffee but tasted a lot less creamy. I smiled looking up at him and giving him a nod of approval. It was fairly less sweet too as if he somehow knew I no longer had sugar in my coffee. To anyone else, it would've just been a coffee, and god I wished it could just be a coffee. But it was about the meaning behind the coffee, he went out of his way to make sure it was the way I liked it, and it was nostalgic because it was the way I used to have my coffee before I went on my diet. After I had somewhat wrapped my head around that, I turned my attention to my plate full of food, the grease shining in the light that was let in by the blinds. I took a deep breath, knowing this was gonna be a huge fucking problem. Alright, how am I gonna do this? At least eat the eggs, they're not overly high in calories and are good for me, filled with protein so it'll keep me fuller for longer. Eat maybe half, no, a quarter of the toast and a bit of the bacon. Okay, just a little bit of pain for someone to be off my back, I can do this. I pick up my fork, my hand noticeably shaky as I pick some of the scrambled eggs on my plate. I shove it into my mouth, immediately met with the flavour I haven't had in months. I tried to shove food around my plate as much as I could without making it obvious I was doing so, ultimately I was trying to kill time. I was done with my eggs and picked up the toast that was clearly covered in butter, but luckily Nick hadn't drowned it like he used to. I took a small bite out of a corner and chewed for longer than necessary before swallowing. I felt Nick's eyes on me so I looked up at him, seeing him sip on his coffee, done with his food and his eyes trained on me. I took another bite, looking away from him as I shifted uncomfortably. I didn't like people watching me eat.
