AMARA CABOT
A bad feeling had etched its way into the pit of my stomach as I climbed into the back seat of the car. Alec came after me, then Nick and the glass bottle.
It was half full with whiskey or rum or- whatever Alec drinks. And I could now see clearly the amount or white residue left over.
Whoever did decide to drug me didn't do a very good job of hiding it.
I played with my fingers, twirling the ring around my finger. Alec noticed, entwining his hand with my subtly as our knees clashed together.
Just a mere three hours ago, he had his fingers inside me in a public restroom and now we're here, all professional and business-like again.
It didn't bother me. Because if I'm honest, it's rather hot watching Alec be all bossy and man like. Especially when he's possessive over me and my family. ESPECIALLY when he looses his cool and becomes vulnerable when were alone.
I love those moments. Just us.
Like when we were on the roof or that night in the kitchen. Those times are my favorite because it shows his human side. The side of him that doesn't kill people. Not that I mind.
Which is weird, I honestly thought I'd be more freaked out about the whole mafia member thing. But I guess it's just routine now.
I fumbled with the zipper on my jacket as I pulled myself back into conversation, only half realising we had left the upper part of New York.
"Where are we going?" I asked, causing both sets of eyes to turn to me. Nick pointed, "That giant building there is the science lab. My office is in there." He said.
I nodded, "Awesome. Do you have like, microscopes and stuff?" I said, breaking the tension. This guy gave me automatic bad vibes as soon as he walked into the room, but I for my plan to work, I need this to be as normal as possible, he physically relaxed and chuckled, "Yeah and Bunsen burners and all that cool stuff."
"Neat." I said, sinking back into the chair.
I leaned my head on Alec's arm, feeling extremely tired, "Excuse me asking but, are you two an item?"
"No." I said quickly, "I have a boyfriend, Giovanni? I think you met him earlier." He nodded and I smiled, "Alec is basically just a body guard." I snorted, earning a grunt from Alec.
Nick smiled, "I didn't realise, my apologies." He said.
"Don't be sorry. It's a common mistake." I shrugged, "Alec is more like a best friend than a lover- you know what I mean?" I started to ramble, hopefully catching him off guard, "But I still love-"
"We're here." Alec cut me off, opening the door quickly before stepping out. He held the door like a gentleman and then closed it after me.
"Can I borrow your phone, I left mine at the house and I need to text Marco to make sure he gets ketchup for dinner tonight."
Alec looks utterly confused as he cocked his head to the side, "Please." I said with more urgency in my voice, seeing Nick eyeing me from the corner of my eye as I kept my face calm.
He muttered something that sounded an awful lot like 'crazy' under his breath which I chose to ignore. But nonetheless, he handed me his phone, unlocking it for me.
"Thanks."
I quickly searched for his notes app, which wasn't hard to find considering he has literally no other apps.
I typed out my quick plan, jotting down my bad feeling and the idea that I had. I hope he catches along because I really don't feel good about this guy.
"Here." I smiled, handing it back to him unlocked. He almost didn't look at it but I nudged his arm as we walked behind Nick and he glanced down at it, "So Nick, how long have you been a forensics scientist for?" I asked, delaying long enough for Alec to read the message I had left.

We were currently sitting in Nick's office in the waiting area. My knee was bouncing up and down as Alec placed his hand on it, "It'll be fine. Marco and Giovanni are already on there way." He said quietly, peering into the small window in the door.
"This is ridiculous." I announced, standing up, "Why can't we just go in there?" I cursed.
"Because, we're not scientists." Alec grabbed my hand and pulled me down, glancing around, "Since when were you sticking to the rules?" I huffed, crossing my arms over my chest, "Since I don't want to have shoot anyone today."
His words had muffled in my brain as I saw something in the palm of Nick's hand. It was for a fraction of a second, but I caught it.
"Get out your gun." I said, "What, why?" Alec said, following my gaze.
I ignored his protests and banged my fists on the door, yelping in surprise as I was yanked forward, a gun pressed to my temple.
I began to breath heavily, tears welling in my throat as I squeezed my eyes shot. I heard another gun cock and opened them slowly to reveal Alec.
He was pointing it at Nick.
"Let her go, Nick. She's innocent in all this." He said sternly, his hand steadily holding the barrel.
"She's far from innocent. She's the whole reason this thing started in the first place. Like your father said, she is the key to everything." I could hear the smirk in Nick's voice as his words echoed through my head, making my chest rise and fall.
"My father?" Alec questioned, "My pathetic excuse for a father figure?" He scoffed, "Trust me, he's the one person you shouldn't be trusting."
There was silence before I heard footsteps behind me. I didn't even need to look to know who it was. By the way Alec's hand slowly fell to it's side.
I followed his fingers, he hadn't turned the safety off.
"Alec." I mumbled, earning the gun to be pressed harder to my skin. I whimpered, catching Alec's neck whip to me, "Let her go, Dad. I'm the one you want, clearly."
Angelo chuckled, "You're my son, I already own you."
"Since you tried to poison me, I'd say there's something else on your radar that you're not being completely honest about." Alec sneered, lifting his gun again, this time- aiming it at his father.
My breathed hitched just as two figures ran down the hallway.
Giovanni and Marco, wide eyed and red cheeked pulled their guns immediately, aiming one at Nick, and one are Angelo.
"What the hell?" Marco cursed.
"You have two options here, son." Angelo said calmly, stepping forward and blocking my view from Alec. His tall figure blocked my field of vision and I whimpered. Nick pulled me closer to him, his hand closing in on my throat as I struggled to breathe.
From the corner of my eye, I saw movement and slowly turned my head. My eyes widened as I saw James, he pushed one finger to his mouth, silencing me. I bite my lip, feeling the urge to throw up as anxiety enters my stomach.
It feels like it never leaves!
James left, and I saw the outline of a gun pressed against his pants.
I'm surprised no one else in this lab has figured out what's going on.
"The first option, I take Amara and leave you be. Or the second option, I kill you and then take Amara." Angelo cackled.
"You wouldn't kill me. I'm your fucking son!" Alec's voice boomed, I jumped.
Then, Angelo uttered two words that made my blood run cold.
"Not biologically."
