AMARA CABOT

It was the day after Christmas - boxing day! Which meant Boxing Day sales, Boxing Day traffic and Boxing Day stress.

Giovanni insisted we go out of the day, taking Marco, Alec and my brothers with us!

Alec wasn't speaking to me. Which I understood, I just wish this wasn't the case. Although, I felt bad about ignoring him yesterday. But in order to keep up this charade until his wedding, it needs to work!

Finn and Joey were annoying Marco, tugging on his suit, scaring him, whining about how their feet hurt. It was honestly joyous, watching him have to keep his mouth shut.

"I'm in desperate need of coffee. Do you want one, Alec?" Giovanni quirked. Alec didn't even spare him a glance, but shook his head, indicating no.

Marco had run off with my brothers while I sat at the small round table, looking at my chipped nails.

I could feel his eyes burning into the side of my head while I pretended not to see him. However, when Giovanni came back, it was hard not to look at him.

"Okay, one caramel macchiato for you and one black coffee for me." Giovanni said, breaking the silence between us, "Thank you." I smiled, taking a small sip.

Giovanni bumped his knee with mine and I blushed, swirling my coffee with my hand, "You two are disgusting." Alec scoffed under his breath, keeping his arms folded.

I wanted to laugh at how petty he's being but a small part inside me felt bad. I don't know how I feel about him. And he definitely doesn't know his own feelings.

But this whole thing is just confusing me. I know that some part of me cares for him very much but I can't tell if its in a friend way or a love kind of way. My heart gets all twisted and numb when he's around and my mood heightens.

It's messing with my head. He seems to want to spend time with me but then he goes and does stuff like getting married to Tiffany, keeping secrets from us, the list goes on!

It's not fair!

"I need to use the bathroom." I stood up, my chair scraping against the floor, "Excuse me." I hurried off quickly to the bathroom, heading into an empty stall.

Thankfully, there was no one in here but me.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, leaning my head against the bathroom stall, why do boys have to be so complicated?

When Giovanni touches me, or kisses me, all I can imagine is Alec's lips, or his hands. The way he smells infiltrates my senses. I can't help it!

Suddenly, the door was swung open. I was about to scream when a hand went over my mouth and I was met with the hard expression of Alec.

I calmed down when I realised it was him as he closed the stall door behind us, leaving us in a tiny, crowded space.

I heard the lock click and knew I was in trouble. He removed his hand and glared at me, "I don't know what kind of shit you and Giovanni are pulling, but it's not working. If you're trying to make me jealous then-"

"I don't know what you're talking about." I played the innocent card, watching his eyes turn even stonier, "Look, Giovanni and I have gotten closer. He cares for me, we- talk." I sigh, stating the truth.

"I care for you!" He blurts out, his voice echoing through the large bathroom.

I was shocked, but didn't let him know it. I didn't think he'd ever admit it.

"And we talk. I- talk. You can talk to me!" He stuttered. He was almost cute in a nervous-mafia member way. I hid my smile, "I know. But you're with Tiffany and the wedding-"

"Screw the goddam wedding, Amara. I don't want to get married to Tiffany. I hate Tiffany."

At that point I did laugh, and I felt my cheeks heat up, "Good. Because she's an ungrateful cow." I huffed, crossing my arms over my chest.

"I'm sorry if this hurts your feelings but you need to grow up."

He looked at me, intensely.

"If you don't want to get married to Tiffany, tell your Dad. He can't force you. You're twenty fucking four!" I sighed.

"I know." He snorted, "Trust me. But it's not that simple." He spoke, running a hand through his gelled hair. I took his face in my hands, my features softening as I noticed his exhausted look, "Then tell me. What's wrong?"

He looked hesitant, but he took a breath, "My father needs me to marry Tiffany so he can finish a deal with her father. If they do, my Dad will get money and will be able to pay off all his dues and debts. So, technically, we wouldn't be indebted to you anymore." He scratched the back of his head.

"But I already said you didn't have to pay!"

He nodded, "Yeah, you didn't. But your grandmother somehow found out. And she's demanding the money or she'll take all the evidence against us to the police, including you."

I balled my hands at my sides until my fingernails dug into my palms, "I'm sorry." I breathed quietly, "I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"For... treating you like this. I honestly thought you were dating Tiffany to spite me. That's why Gio and I put this whole fiasco thing on." I shrugged.

Alec laughed, "Oh I know. But you seemed to actually fool my father this time. He told me I looked miserable in the car ride to Tiffany's place!"

I smiled, good!

Then, it dawned on me that we were in a toilet stall in the mall. "Um, we should probably-" I tried to push past him but he wouldn't budge.

"Alec, we need to go." He laugh, frustrated.

He stayed still.

Eventually, I just snaked my arm around his torso to try and feel for the lock, which caused me to be pressed up against his body.

My hand fell from his side as it fell to mine and I took in our close proximity.

"Alec..." I mumbled, not taking my eyes off his.

The air suddenly felt more tense, like something had shifted. I felt warmer and I could hear my heartbeat in my ears, "We need to-"

"Go. I know. But your boyfriend can wait." He smirked.

His hot, minty breath fanned my cheek and I shivered, biting my lip. As if he mimicked my actions, we both met half way before our lips collided.

I sighed into his mouth, feeling a thousand weights being lifted off my shoulders as his tongue danced with mine.

His hands went to my waist, where he slowly went up my shirt and caressed the soft patch of skin on my stomach before his naughty hands travelled to my ass, where he squeezed and then hoisted me up.

We were spun around, so my back was against the door.

My legs were wrapped tightly around his waist and I could feel his excitement through his pants. My stomach was tied in knots, excited ones as well as nerves.

I let out a moan and felt Alec smile against my lips. I tugged on his silky strands of hair, eliciting a deep groan from him.

"Fuck." He mumbled quietly, as the main door swung open.

I opened my eyes to see his swollen lips, he smirked, bringing his face to my ear, "Be quiet."
