LAW HAD IMAGINED THE WAKING PROCESS A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY.
Nothing could've prepared him for the sudden, loud noises from his ship, the strawhat breaking right through its ceiling and hitting the floor in front of him and Jinbei, before he went on a rampage inside the forest.

It took a while for the screams and loud noises to cease and when Silvers Rayleigh appeared on the island, Law wondered once more what he had gotten himself into.

He kept on sitting on top of the cliff and stared down on the Polar Tang, his eyes resting on the huge hole in its ceiling, the spot where Luffy had broken through to the surface.
His fingers tightened a little around the strawhat in his hand.

He wasn't entirely sure how long it would take to fix that part of the ship and he clicked his tongue because now he'd be forced to stay longer than planned on Amazon Lily.

The sun already started setting when the Heart pirates noticed two frames stepping out of the forest. Jinbei carried Luffy on his back, the limbs of the exhausted boy barely able to get a hold on the fishman.

Law quickly got up to his feet and waved them towards him.

"Get him on my ship. I have to treat his wounds."

He felt Rayleigh's eyes resting on him, but ignored it while Jinbei brought Luffy to the deck of the Polar Tang.
From there on, the strawhat managed to walk by himself and with incoherent mumbles leaving his lips, he followed Law inside the submarine.

It was silent between them, but Law kept an observing look on Luffy from the corner of his eye, trying to notice fast enough if he'd sway in his step or break down again.

But Luffy just stared into nothing as he slowly walked next to the surgeon. Even though Law didn't know him well enough yet, to see this attitude and face from the usually energetic and happy pirate made him worry.

It was frightening to him that even the most lighthearted people could be swallowed by the darkness.

They walked towards the operation room, the same room Luffy had thrashed a few hours ago.
Even though a few members of the Heart Pirates had tried to clean a part of the mess, there still were some ripped cables and a broken monitor laying beside the door.

"Sorry about the mess I caused."

Luffy's voice sounded tired and lifeless, almost hoarse, as if it hurt to speak.

"I didn't want to damage your ship."

After stepping next to him, Law caught a glimpse of his face and the way he stared down at the broken medical equipment.
When he noticed tears shining in his eyes, the surgeon quickly turned to the side, placed the strawhat he still held inside a shelf right next to them and opened a drawer to pull out a large roll of bandages.
