VI.

"I feel safer when you are here"

CUTTING OFF the last piece of the bandage, Law walked back towards the shelf with medical equipment, squinting a little to see how Luffy moved his arm around, as if to test if the bandages were tight enough.

"This should be enough for now." the surgeon said, while he disinfected his hands and turned towards the younger pirate.

"Do you want to go to sleep right away, or- "

"I want to see more of the ship." Luffy interrupted him. "And eat something."

The teen smiled up at him while dangling his legs in the air between the surgery bed and the floor.
He looked like a little kid who was about to see a new place.

Actually, he was about to see a new place. Besides the time when he hadn't been conscious, he hadn't seen much of the polar tang's insides.

And since today was the day he would sleep inside of it, he wanted to know more about the ship of the Heart Pirates.

Law frowned at the question and leaned his head a little to the side.

"You had dinner only an hour ago, didn't you?"

Luffy's smile widened and he rubbed the back of his neck.

"I did, but I'm really in the mood for a snack."

With a sigh, Law turned around, then showed him to follow him. And from the corner of his eye, he saw how Luffy jumped from the surgery bed and followed him with a happy hum on his lips.

Since they had walked back from the flower field together, Law had gotten the feeling that the strawhat had looked happier and more content.
And the fact that he showed his usual hunger relieved Law.

Maybe it had been a good idea to accompany him and not leave him alone.

They went towards the cuisine, met Shachi and Penguin in there and as usually, Luffy had no problem to bond with them.
While he was eating, he was talking with the two Heart pirates, while Law sat at the table with crossed arms, observing the younger pirate closely.

He was back to his usual, carefree self and he was glad about that. But he still felt concern burning in his stomach when he thought about what might happen when he went to sleep.

Thanks to his own experience, he knew how painful nightmares could be, it was something he didn't wish to anyone.

After spending an hour talking and making jokes - and eating basically all the "snacks" the Heart pirates had to offer, Luffy yawned and showed Law that he wanted to go to sleep.
