PUNK HAZARD WAS A GOD DAMN HEADACHE. Law had realized that in the moment he set foot on the island.

Still, it didn't take away the fact that this place was way too important to his plan, important enough to give up his heart for a sacrifice, to allow Caesar to taunt him and treat him like a specimen to study.
Looking around him, Law saw the snow falling, felt it brush against his cheek and his fingers when he rose his hand, mumbled a low “Takt”, before rising another ship of the marines into the air.

It was just like it had always been. The world around him was cold and unforgiving, so he adapted and became just as cold and merciless.

There was no place for warmth inside of him, he didn’t need warmth to survive, since he had done very well without it for the past years, for all his life.

Sometimes, in short episodes of weakness, when he allowed his mind to stray, to soften, he remembered the feeling of warm sunlight on his face, the feeling of grass beneath his body, against his skin, the sound of laughter.

Someone’s voice. A voice he hadn’t heard in such a long time, such a long while that his brain couldn’t replay it. It was a blur in the back of his head, just like Corazon’s voice.

And because forgetting always hurt, because the replaying of memories brought him nothing but pain, Law always forbid himself to replay the smile belonging to that voice, the warm eyes, the soft fingers and black hair.

He didn’t need it. Didn’t need those memories.

With a movement of his finger, he made the ship crash to the ground, into the snow. Cold filled him, it bit and hurt and stung, but it was better than nothing.

It was better than feeling empty.

With a sigh, Law turned around and decided to head back to the labour, to not let himself get annoyed anymore by Smoker and his troups.

Looking down, he watched his own feet trail through the snow, Kikoku leaning against his shoulder.

He just hoped he could move on as soon as possible, could move to the next island after finishing his business with Caesar.

It was annoying to spend time with him, to even act somewhat nice to a psychotic guy like that.

“Hey!”

He probably would’ve already killed him if he wasn’t that important for his mission.

“Hey!!”
