THE BLANKETS AROUND HIM were soft and warm, but it was a different warmth than usual.
Luffy groaned in frustration as he turned his body to the side once more.
He was unable to sleep despite the alcohol he had drank, was only able to stare into the darkness around him.
It must've been roughly two hours since he had went to bed. Roughly two hours since his encounter with Law.
His heart buzzed at the memory of his lips on his and he couldn't help but bury his nose in the pillow beneath his head, an attempt to stop his cheeks from heating up too much.
Law's gasps against his lips, his tongue against his, his tattoed fingers on his waist.
Luffy replayed the scenery over and over in his head, recalled the wall in his back, Law's hair beneath his fingers, his moans against his mouth.
Yet no matter how much he enjoyed that part, he always felt his heart sink when he recalled the things afterwards, the words said, the furious glances cast.
He regret what he had said, regret the way he had acted. Because it hadn't been him saying it, but his hurt heart and damaged pride.
On the other hand, he was too scared und uncertain about what to do. He couldn't just walk into Law's cabin to apologize. At least that was what he told himself. Because he was too scared of the young surgeon's reaction.
But the lack of sleep bothered him pretty much and he pressed his lips to a line as he thought about what to do. He would never fall asleep if he continued to thrash around in the bed and go through the experience over and over again.
He had to talk to Law. Otherwise his mind wouldn't find peace.
With a swift and sincere motion, he threw away the blanket and swung his feet out of the bed, placing them on the cool ground.
Upon standing up, he felt his mind buzz a little, but as soon as he started walking, his mind got used to it and steadied itself.
And like that, he slipped out onto the hallway, his bare feet tapping over the metal ground of the submarine as they approached the door or Law's cabin, his heart beating harder and faster with every step.
Right in front of it, he thought about turning around and just leaving again, because the power of his heartbeat stole the air from his lungs, made it impossible to breathe or to speak.
But he kept on staring at the metal door, taking deep, calculated breaths.
He had to do this now. They had to talk seriously with each other, he had to apologize and then had to try to put his feelings into words, no matter how bad he was at that.
