I was finishing up packing when I heard a knock at the door.

Probably just Corbyn and he just forgot his key or something.
I went downstairs and opened up the door and standing there was my one and only Crush since 8th grade. He also happened to be my best guy friend. Lucas. He was pretty popular but so was I.

"L-Lucas? What are you doing here..?" I stuttered out.

"I heard your going to L.A with your brother..I wanted to come say goodbye.." He said quietly, fiddling with his fingers.
"I was gonna come over later and tell you but guess I don't have to now.." I said.

"Can i come in?" Lucas asked,
"Oh uh yeah sure. Corbyns not here though." I told him, stepping out of the way.

"Great then since your leaving U can tell you this. Look, we have been friends since 4th grade and im not gonna lie I've had a small crush on you. Then I realized im not getting over you anytime soon and now your leaving.."

"Luke..I-" I stuttered.

I stood there in total, utter shock. Why did he never say anything?
As my heart beat sped up, I blinked, bringing everything back to normal.
It was almost as if the blink took everything out of slow motion.

"You dont have to like me back. You can honestly say that this is awkward and tell me to leave. I just needed to tell you before you left." Lucas interrupted my thoughts.

Do I say something?
What do I say?

"Luke..I have liked you too. But Luke this is a huge opportunity for me and I cant stay here. I'm gonna be in L.A and long distance wouldn't be easy. Im sorry Luke. I like you too but I think its better if we get over each other."

Lucas looked down at the ground and bit his lip.
As he looked back up, making eye contact with me, I saw the pain in his eyes.
I felt horrible, but also, didn't.

"No, I understand. Its better for the both of us. Im gonna miss you Mads. Have fun in L.A with Corbs. Tell him i said bye." Lucas sighed.

Lucas looked incredibly upset but we both knew it was better for me to just leave.
I had a really amazing chance being in L.A. So many people move to L.A to find amazing dance studios, and start music careers.

I could end up being a professional dancer.

Almost right after Lucas left Corbyn pulled in the driveway with food. I sat on the couch, drowning in my thoughts.
The pain of leaving everything behind, but also the refreshing new start.
But the question is, was the new start really worth it all?

"Im home Mads! Oh your right there. I got food!" Corbyn said, quite loudly, probably assuming I was upstairs.

"I um, I'm not hungry but thanks corb. Uhm, Lucas said bye, by the way." I said quickly.

"You okay?" Corbyn asked.

"Uhm yeah, im just gonna go finish packing since we leave early in the morning." I told him.

"okay.. Ill put your chicken wrap in the fridge for when you want it.." He said skeptically.

"Okay. Thanks."

I knew Corbyn wanted answers, but thankfully he didn't pry at me.
He has a tendency to get me to break, and finally tell him everything I'm holding back, but this time, he let it slide.

I walked up the stairs and closed my door behind me, holding back frusteration, but also sadness.
I leaned my back against my door, and with a sigh, slid down it.
I landed on the floor, knees to my chest, and dug my head into my knees.

Was moving to L.A with my big brother really the right choice?
