A huge thanks to TotalKO123 for helping so many people find my story. I can't recommend reading Forever and Always by them enough. It's amazing, and is entering the Goblet of Fire chapters for those who love that book/movie.

Y/N POV

The rest of the week went by quickly. The only class I truly hated was Astronomy, but that's for so many reasons. I rather like sleeping at midnight and the class happens then. The Hufflepuff students were nice enough to help if we asked. Ron and Harry seemed to be torn on it. In their eyes, it was easy, so that's a positive for them. At the same time, we were exhausted the following day.

Somehow, it never once bothered Hermione. Which made me extremely jealous. She was Little Miss Perfect in every class while I found myself lagging behind in History of Magic and Herbology.

Yes, I'm jealous of her being able to pass every class. I wish I as smart as her as well. There's nothing wrong with admitting that.

But I also learned that I was the first Ilvermorny exchange student in a century. Something about a war between the MACUSA and the British Ministry of Magic. Something about a pig causing the war because... Well, reasons. Bacon is delicious, but to go to war over it? That's a tad bit silly.

Oh, and the Daily Prophet felt the need to report it. So now, I'm considered a celebrity for going to school. Because their readers need to feel young, I guess.

"Y/N, you okay?" Ron asked. Harry was busy looking over his potions essay, while Hermione was playing with Shade.

"Yeah. Just worried about tomorrow's flying class. Why?" I replied.

"Hermione's been calling your name for the past ten minutes and you didn't answer." Oh yeah. I forgot that due to my sudden popularity increase, some of the Slytherins took to making fun of me. Namely Ferret boy and the Trolls.

They were laughing at me for not getting into my preferred school and how my parents must be happy that I'm thousands of miles away. Ironically, they don't like it when Shade shows up. Then again, he usually has something weird in his mouth. He made Ron scream after placing a dead spider on his pillow.

Shade just watched, amused, as McGonagall stormed in and yelled at us to go to back to bed.

"What do you need Mione?" She smiled at the nickname, before putting Shade on my shoulder.

"I was wondering if you wanted to accompany me to the library. I've got an idea as to what Shade truly is." She stopped herself, noticing Ron's eyes glaring at her. They're not exactly good friends, with him being jealous and or intimidated by her knowledge. Harry was in a weird spot since Ron was his first real friend, but he didn't want to insult anyone.

"I already know what he is. The definition of sardonic." A paw hit the back of my head. "Fine. I'll go. Does that make you happy Shade?" His reply was to meow softly and return to Hermione. Of course.

We left, making the long walk to the library. Hermione kept on asking me about classes, while I asked about her favorite books. Surprisingly, she enjoyed a little of everything. Which made me smile, since I could easily see her in a bookstore. Perhaps a rustic one, with the smell of old books and parchment helping to make her beauty be amplified with joy.

"You know," uh oh. She was saying something while I zoned out. "If you didn't want to come, you didn't have to." Her voice went small towards the end, twisting the knife of guilt that stabbed my heart.

"I do want to go with you. You're an amazing person, and I couldn't exactly help but get drawn into imagining you in a bookstore." She scrunched her nose up in confusion, making me internally sigh. She was definitely cute, but I can't do anything. I'm sure she would never feel the same way about me.
