An Investigative Key

Sorry for the delay. To explain, I've essentially been planning a move, and have been busy checking for apartments and all that. I currently have a place lined up, as well as a job. As of now, all signs are pointing towards November or December for it, but I still have to be wary.

On top of that, I've started work on 3 other projects over on AO3. The first is called Elementary, My Dear Dudley and features a semi decent Dursley family and a Harry that is more observant.

Second one is To Find Peace and is a WBWL story. For those who don't get that label, it means Wrong Boy Who Lived. It features Mahoutokoro taking Harry, Hermione, and Ginny on as transfer students.

The last is called Death's Blessing and is a Jily Meets Harmony story. It's set in the Goblet of Fire, and has been fun to write. All are Harmony stories as well, with as little bashing as possible.

Garnet Black strolled through the Department of International Magical Cooperation, keeping his red oak wand in a wrist holster. The stares irritated him, especially considering the fact that his last name is Black.

Clearly they can't think for themselves. Amelia always said that she despised the amount of politics that were waged within the confines of the building. He thought, before pulling up to an ebony door and knocking on it.

"Enter!" Came the booming voice of the latest MACUSA Ambassador. Garnet twisted the doorknob and smiled at the man.

"Hello there, Arcturus." Arcturus Graves allowed a wane grimace to cross his face. Ever since his presidency ended, he had been tapped by the ICW to lead a specialized task force with explicit orders to use 'any means necessary' on escaped convicts.

"Garnet. What can I do for you?"

"I need the task force." Only the serious look prevented Graves from laughing out loud. He knew that Garnet would only request such a thing if absolutely necessary.

"Explain."

"I've been checking into the Halloween Attack and have discovered something quite worrisome. Sirius was never given a trial."

"And that means what exactly?"

"The person in line to get his vault is Lucius Malfoy. Someone who has been hunted by Magical Interpol for his actions in France in 79." That was the year that almost caused an international incident. The former President just kept his eyes locked with the investigator.

"While that's a valid reason for using the task force, we would need to get approval from Fudge. And we know that Lucius is a major donator for him."

"Yes, he is. He's also someone who has already began pushing for the execution of a hippogriff for 'being dangerous' and attacking his son. Yet I have already spoken to others about that incident. It was nothing more than his son thinking he was better than the others. Openly disregarded the instructions given by the teacher, and lied about the injury to escape playing Quidditch in bad weather."

"Is there anything else that can be used to logically justify the usage?"

"Yes. If I'm correct on what I've discovered, then not only is Sirius innocent, but he's also not responsible for the death of Pettigrew or the Muggles."

"Oh? What evidence do you have?"

"The Goblins allowed me to read the Potter's Will. They acknowledge the change of Secret-Keepers in it, and was set for October Twenty-nine of their last year as a family. With Lucius being married to a former Black, his son is in line to inherit the Black estate."

"Was Lucius involved in any type of criminal activity?"

"Aside from his tenure as a Death Eater?" At the nod, Garnet continued. "Yes. He gave Ginevra Weasley a diary that bewitched her to unleash the Basilisk last year. He threatened the Board of Governors, and Fudge removed Hagrid to 'be seen doing something.'"

"Then I think that it's time to call MACUSA." He pulled out a handheld mirror and called out for MACUSA Asylum. When it was answered, the two talked through the problem, before getting confirmation for Sirius getting asylum and a citizenship in the United States. Their representative at the Confederation will begin to push for an emergency session to confirm reveal all that they talked about.

Garnet took his leave, smiling ever so slightly. A former Selwyn, adopted by the Black family and now working in the International Police.

Sirius always did complain about the fact that I didn't pull pranks. Wonder how he'd feel, knowing that I just made sure to piss off a liar and the most useless Minister in years.

That's it for this chapter. Yes, it's short, but I'm not too concerned. I will be trying to get some type of upload schedule figured out, but no promises. See you next time, where we get to see how Y/N struggles with the broken friendships!
