Just a heads up: I've got another HP story planned for AO3. More details will be forthcoming, but it won't be started until book 6.

I took a seat next to Hermione as I entered the Divination classroom. It was full of poufs and round tables, with some type of fragrance seemingly coating the entirety of the room.

"Welcome, my children. My name is Professor Trelawney. You may not have seen me before. I find that descending too often into the hustle and bustle of the main school clouds my Inner Eye," she purred, adjusting her shawl. "So, you have chosen to study Divination, the most difficult of all magical arts. I must warn you at the outset that if you do not have the Sight, there is very little I will be able to teach you. Books can take you only so far in this field."

"Many witches and wizards, talented though they are in the area of loud bangs and smells and sudden disappearings, are yet unable to penetrate the veiled mysteries of the future," Trelawney continued as I resisted the urge to yawn. "It is a Gift granted to few. You, boy."

Neville jumped, nearly falling off his pouf.

"Is your grandmother well?"

"I think so," he muttered nervously.

"I wouldn't be so sure if I were you, dear."

He looked worried, and as Trelawney went on to spook a few other students, I leaned over to him.

"I don't think she's all there. Send an owl if you want, though." Trelawney continued muttering about Easter and how we were going to focus on tasseomancy this term before releasing us to get our own cup of tea.

"We get to find out what the tea dregs say about our future. Great." I heard Hermione mutter, making me crack a small grin. When I looked in her cup, though, I saw an hourglass encompassed by a ring and some type of badge.

"I think you may like your future." I gave a tight smile, trying to reign in the jealousy. "An hourglass that signifies time, a ring that symbolizes marriage and a badge probably related to the Ministry. So you will get married young, probably to whoever you love the most, and then ascend to become the first Muggleborn Minister of Magic." She beamed at me, making the knowledge of her marriage even more unbearable. I'm not going to be lucky enough to marry this beautifully smart witch!

"Well, ours seem to be linked then, cause you have a skull, ring, and a quill. Which means that you will unfortunately suffer pain, but marry your true love, and then become the best Professor that Hogwarts will ever have." I blushed at her last statement, making her smile.

"What do you have?" Trelawney asked, coming to a stop by Ron and Harry.

"Uhhh. A wonky cross and a skull." Ron said. Both of those were linked to the idea that to reach happiness, you must struggle. I don't buy that for a moment.

"You have the Falcon. You have a dangerous for."

"Everyone knows that!" Hermione replied, as I rolled my eyes.

"In other news, fire is hot." The screams of our teacher prevented further discussion.

"My dear... You have the worst omen of all! You have... The Grim!" Lavender and Parvati shrieked, while Harry was just confused.

"The Grin? What's The Grin?"

"It's a form of smiling. However, The Grim omen is much worse." I replied.

"It is the omen.... Of death!" I could see it, but I can also see a triangle split down the middle. Weird. My mom said that she had heard that the Hallows represent a multitude of things.
