Sorry for the lack of updates this past month. April always seems to sap my energy, but May returns it. Also, since I didn't include the whole Snape DADA class, allow me to fix that. Oh, and expect the first chapter of The Forgotten Black to be posted soon.
Y/N POV
After the Dementors attacked us, Harry and I were kinda out of it. Hermione barely left my side, unless she had to use the loo or get something to eat. Harry and I were just upset that Cedric caught the Snitch before Harry, though it was eased by the offer of a rematch.
Apparently both seekers were close enough to catch it before the Dementors showed up. Oliver remained in the showers, upset at the loss and somehow feeling as if we were screwed in the Quidditch Cup.
We may have lost, but you can be damn sure we will try to make sure all of us were in a good place to finish it off. Especially since the visit from the Dementors nearly hurt Hermione.
Out of rage, I may have started to research more about them. These monstrosities visited Japan back in the feudal era. A wandering monk at the time saw the damage they could do. As such, he created a spell that destroyed them by forcibly ripping their own essence out.
But the cost was enormous.
They were like Obscurials in the sense that they could unleash hell. One way was if they were starving. They would openly attack non magical communities, causing many people claim they were demons. When the monk arrived at their next target, he wept for what he had to do.
Runes were drawn, and the recently departed were dragged with. The morning rose upon that June day. By sunset, the spell had forced the Dementors into an eternal abyss, sealed and guarded by those they feasted on.
As thanks, the monk was allowed to create Mahoutokoro School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and took the first class with him on the back of a Storm Petel. All of the Headmasters and Headmistresses of the school were taught the spell by the previous.
And the price? A cursed life, as the price sacrificed to stop the Dementors would be one of three things. The first is a piece of their soul, essentially cutting their lives in half. Second is part of their magical core. Third is the life of a loved one.
If they sacrifice their core, it essentially creates an internal parasite that eats away until it is completely eroded. Which would cause them to suffer a painful death.
Garnet Black POV
As I entered the Embassy Wing of the ICW tower here in New York, a beautiful barn owl handed me a letter.
Dear Garnet,
You may not know me, but my name is Sirius Black, and we are related. I don't know how, but I'd be willing to bet that dear old mum entertained quite a few guests. Can't be too certain though.
But that is besides the point. I'm writing you to explain the truth behind Halloween 1981.
While unjustly incarcerated, I suffered from the Dementors oh so perfect bedside manners. Which is to say that I struggled to stay sane. I'll explain the reasoning should you agree to help me.
Help me prove my innocence. I didn't betray Prongs. Wormtail did. Peter Pettigrew. I was thrown in Azkaban without a trial!
Please, use any resource you can. I beg of you.
Oh bloody hell. If this is true, then it's going to be quite the black eye for the British Ministry. Their precious Wizengamot, their parliament essentially, would have to be completely vetted if the letter was true.
