A/N: I'm an idiot and forgot to post anything regarding the third floor corridor in the last chapter, so that's going to get explained here. Also, huge thanks to ElectricZenith for helping me flesh out parts of book 5, TotalKO123 for setting my book 3 plans in stone, and kieran_w for letting me use his idea of Girl Talk. Which will happen either late book 2 or early book 3.
Harry POV
The rest of the classes went by quickly, with no sign of Y/N or Hermione. Ron looked worried, but didn't openly voice any concerns. Brushing them off as the two "know it alls deciding to prove their superiority" by not showing up.
He was angry at them after we ended up in the third floor corridor. They managed to unlock a door after we nearly got caught by Filch. Unfortunately the room housed a three headed dog that Y/N said was fluffy. When we returned to the common room, Hermione snapped at us and essentially berated us for not noticing the trapdoor under its paws.
Well, to be more exact, she snapped at Ron. Y/N and her had a row with one another already, and Y/N was trying to fix their friendship. He doesn't speak a lot about his life in the US, so perhaps he didn't have friends there.
I was just caught in the crossfire.
"Where's Y/N and Hermione?" I asked, and Neville answered.
"Parvati said that Hermione was crying in the bathroom, but nobody's seen Y/N since he called Ron out." Ron rolled his eyes, huffing.
"Excuse me, I couldn't help but overhear you ask about your friends. I believe that they are in the girls first floor bathroom. Y/N wanted to stay outside so he wouldn't get in trouble, but I managed to persuade him to go in. I'll vouch for him if necessary." A Ravenclaw prefect stated, before walking off. Now Ron looked upset. Perhaps another Ravenclaw told her that they usually hung out with us.
"You just had to do that, didn't you?" I was just as guilty as him. I should've said something, so now Hermione probably hates us.
"I think I was a little harsh on her." Great. At least he knows he'll have to apologize to her. The great doors swung open with a familiar purple turbaned man rushing towards the teachers.
"Troll! In the dungeon! Troll in the dungeon!" He screeched, stopping in front of Dumbledore. "Thought you oughta know." He passed out as pandemonium broke out.
"SILENCE!" Dumbledore roared, making everyone stop. "Prefects, lead your respective house's back to your dormitories at once. Teachers, follow me. Severus," the potions professor raised an eyebrow, "please help escort the Slytherins to their dormitory." Percy leapt to his feet and began corralling the Gryffindors. Wait. What about Y/N and Hermione? We were already near the dormitory when I stopped Ron.
"Y/N and Hermione don't know about the troll!" His eyes widened. We were about to get into trouble, but we'd rather have our friends uninjured. As we reached the first floor corridor, a cold feeling gripped my heart.
"Maybe the troll left the dungeons." Ron offered.
"And went into the girls bathroom!" A scream echoed through the hallway, making us run towards it. We entered the room where it originated and we're gobsmacked at what we saw. Y/N had cast something that was clearly beyond our abilities, as the Hogwarts crest protected him and Hermione, while making some blood drip from his nose.
"Oi! Pea brain!" Ron threw shattered pieces of the stalls at the troll, who grunted and swung the club down on to a sink. Y/N was struck by a small piece of it near the eye, forcing him to one knee. It spurred me to do the stupidest thing possible.
