CHAPTER EIGHTEEN // THE PHARMACY TRIP
"YEAH, I'D KISS YOU TOO. IF I WASN'T
TRYING NOT TO VOMIT."ִֶָ 𓂃⊹ ִֶָ
As they were almost finished with getting the walker out of the well, they were all rejoicing, happy they had found a way to get the walker out without the well without contaminating the water more. When they all thought they had finally achieved their plan, the walker began ripping, right down his waist.
The rotting and decomposing organs, blood, and tissues flowed out as it's legs fell back into the well, fully messing with their original plan. They were all exhausted, each of them had rope burn, and they were all insanely disappointed that all of their hard work had been for nothing.
Each of them let out deep sighs, all wondering what to do next. T-Dog, taking charge, brought his weapon down onto the walker's head, repeatedly, turning it to decaying mush.
"Well, let's get to that pharmacy." Nick spoke, smiling over at Maggie, Glenn, and Jade.
The four of them made it to the horses, Glenn deciding to ride with Jade as he had no knowledge of how to ride a horse. Maggie had to give Nick a quick lesson on riding, so he could refresh his mind and not fall of immediately once they left the farm.
Glenn's arms were loosely wrapped around Jade, wanting to hold onto her, as he was definitely scared by the movement of the horse, but not wanting to make her uncomfortable by the contact. The two of them rode a few feet behind Nick and Maggie, who were having a small conversation, each of them laughing, and Maggie even occasionally giggling, though she didn't seem like one to giggle.
Jade however, stayed silent, causing Glenn to as well. The Horvath girl was listening in on Maggie and Nick's conversation, rolling her eyes at Nick's 'sly' flirting.
When they finally made it to the small pharmacy, they each got off the horses, Glenn almost falling off of the horse as he attempted to get down. As they neared the door, there was a small cardboard sign saying 'Take What You Need And God Bless'. Jade smiled at, what she believed, to be the owners kindness. Even in the horrible place the world was, they were still caring for the others in the world.
Maggie was the first to enter, feeling a sense of normality and that she knew her way around the best. Nick followed close behind her, the other two shaking their heads at the older Horvath before entering as well. The small store was mostly empty, not much of anything remained.
"I'll go see what antibiotics are left. What else is on the list?" Maggie spoke, looking to Nick who had been given the list by Lori.
The Horvath pulled it out, handing it to Maggie. "Uh, you guys get started, I'm going to look around, see what's worth grabbing." Nick said gripping his backpack tightly, running his tongue over his bottom lip.
"Alright... I'll check the back office, see if there's anything in there." Jade commented, looking at Glenn and motioning her head to the door labeled 'Office', to which the boy nodded in agreement.
The pair walked to the back room, Jade shutting the door behind them. "So what exactly did you hope to find in here?" Glenn asked, looking down at the desk that was scattered with paperwork.
"I don't know, a first aid kit maybe?" She said, looking through one of the drawers in a cabinet, Jade looked up, noticing the confused look on Glenn's face. "Honestly, nothing. I kind of wanted to talk to you about something."
"Um, should I be scared, Liz?" He asked, rubbing a hand on the back of his neck.
"No, I don't think so. Uh, God, I did not think it would be this hard to say." She said with a laugh, holding her hands over her face to try and hide her blush.
