"I THINK THAT MAKING TIME TO SAVE PEOPLE ISN'T
A LUXURY, IT'S BEING A DECENT FUCKING
HUMAN BEING."

In order to survive in an apocalyptic world, you had to learn how to help those you care about whilst helping yourself. Whether that meant learning how to use weapons, how to hunt and properly cook the animals caught, how to wash clothes using a bucket and washboard until you couldn't feel your hands to get the blood out. The hobbies that were previously cared about no longer mattered, all that mattered was survival.

Within the last two months, Jade had learned, alongside many others, how to properly defend herself and those she cared about. The brunette would either spend her days along the edges of camp surveying the area for walkers, sat atop her father's RV watching the mountain range around them, or going in and out of Atlanta for needed supplies, alongside Glenn Rhee.

Once the young Korean had joined the small group, he explained to them his previous job as a pizza delivery boy, concluding that he easily knew his way around the city. So, he began joining Jade on her excursions to the city when they would run out of supplies.

Unlike the adults who would constantly busy themselves with tasks to try and think about something other than the dead that were now roaming their world, the children would roam around the closed in camp, the two would color and work on the limited school work Carol and Lori had that they could give their children.

Jade watched from the small chair atop Dale's RV, a shotgun resting in her lap as she watched their small group, she could see Ed Peletier sitting on his ass beside his tent, a lit cigarette between his fingers as he stared over at his wife, who was avoiding eye contact. The man had a creepy grin etched on his face as he watched her make soup from what little rations were left. A few feet away, Shane Walsh could be seen carrying a small stack of firewood in his arms as he walked out of the woods.

From the moment the Horvath girl and Shane had met, Jade had immediately disliked him. He believed that he deserved everyone to listen to him as he barked orders, despite the fact that he would spend most of his day lounging around the area, and sharing lustful glances with Lori Grimes; which everyone else tried their best to ignore.

Most of the group wouldn't fully listen to what the man had to say, instead listening to the brunette girl who often had contradicting ideas. As Dale relieved the girl of her duties of watching over camp so she could prepare for the run she would be going on later that day she walked by where Sophia, Theodora, and Carl were each knelt in the grass, picking at the wildflowers. Lori and Carol stood nearby, each of them continuing to work on the food as they smiled towards the brunette.

"Hey, guys. What are you doing?" Jade asked kindly, smiling sweetly at the children.

The three grinned back at her, Theodora holding up two flowers as she squinted towards them. "We're trying to make flower crowns, but it isn't working." The young girl complained, sadly looking down at the flowers in her small hand.

"Can I try, Teddy bear?" The brunette questioned using the nickname Jade had been calling Theodora since she had met her niece, taking the flowers from Theodora's hand as she reached out. Jades fingers moved slowly, trying to show the three what to do as she bit her lip, concentrating on thinking back to when she would do the same thing. "I used to do this exact thing when I was your age. There was this ginormous field of poppies near where I grew up, and I would always go outside and roll around in 'em. I would make flower crowns and bracelets for my whole family and only come inside when it got dark. It would always make my mom mad because my clothes would be covered in grass and flower stains, but my dad found it hilarious." She told as she threaded the multiple flowers together, finishing the strand after a few moments.
