(Gage)
My hand met the rail of the stairway as I went to the cafeteria.
I was already tired today, which set me in a lazy mood.
"Hi, Gage." Someone said from behind me. Summer.
She was an old friend...well I guess it's sort of complicated. In the past, I used to be a total orep sort of
Jock. It wasn't who I was.
These people can't seem to let it
Go, it's weird with them though. It feels like a gang in a way. You can't really get out.
If you do anything different, they drop you.
As if I'm some kind of traitor now, I hate it.
They also are cruel...some of
Them. At least at this school anyway.
"Hey, Summer." I said flatly. She had a bounce in her step as she seemed to follow me. "So, me and Liz are having a party this weekend. I think you should come." She said slowing down probably nearing her class.
"I don't think I can." I said giving one glance. Man, she was gorgeous. But she's shallow.
She pouted "Awe, maybe you can.." She winked before walking to her next class finally. I sighed and pushed the door open to the cafeteria.
I found Logan sitting at our usual table with that girl, Lilly? Or Lola was her name. Dani's friend.
And this one kid Zeke leaned over the table probably trying to hit on Lola. "Hey." I said sliding into a chair. "Hey man." Logan said with a big smile plastered on his face.
I usually wait to eat until the line dies down, there's a lot of people here.
A part of me was sort of disappointed that Dani wasn't here. I barely know her, but I don't know why she's on my mind right now.
Plus, Zeke is kind of annoying. I don't wanna be third wheeling Lola and Logan, but I don't want to talk to Zeke for half an hour.
"Where's your friend?" I asked Lola, pretending that I didn't know her name. "Dani? I don't know..I thought she had this lunch." Lola shrugged.
I nodded "um, maybe she's lost? Should I go look.." Lola said looking R a little worried. I bit my lip "uh, nah. I can go if you need me to. " I offered standing up.
She smiled "Could you? Thanks!" She added. I nodded, she gave off positive vibes. She's sweet and pretty, but almost in a sister way.
Just as I was about to get up Dani slid into the table taking the only available seat, next to me.
"Finally, I found my way around." She smiled, a dimple poked out in her cheek. "Good, we were gonna send a search party." Lola joked dropping her shoulders back.
"So, how has your first day been?" Logan asked her, she almost had a nervous look on her face but spoke anyway. Kind of like she was afraid of messing something up.
"It's..good. Um...really different." She said with a laugh at the end. Logan smiled "Yeah, it's pretty great." He said leaning back.
He's so positive, it's great but at the same time irritating.
Zeke had finally left and walked back over to his table, it's sort of sad. He's always trying to fit in with the popular kids but they sort of pick on him.
Another thing that's kind of weird is how we all sit together now, kind of like friends. Are we friends?
Lola and Logan are, she's pretty hot and Logan is seeming to like her. I hope he doesn't screw this up, he's not good in relationships and then Dani and Lola would avoid us.
Dani.
Why do I keep thinking of the girl sitting next to me, but not talking to her?
"Hey, Logan, Gage...who are your friends?" This girl said coming up to our table standing next to Summer. They're friends.
"Hey, Melanie. This is Lola and Dani." Logan said gesturing to the two. "Well, anyway...our party is tonight. You guys can all come." Summer said.
"Can't make it, sorry." Logan said kind of ushering them away. "Gage?" Summer asked. I already told her my answer. Lola and Dani looked uncomfortable.
"No." I said and they nodded, walking away.
"A party?" Lola questioned. "Yeah, but we always skip out." I said quickly reassuring her.
I just really hate their parties, once when I went it was a bonfire in the fall.
At the guy's house he had a swimming pool and the water was still in it and everything but it was cold out.
They invited all these younger kids and actually messed with them the whole night, one kid got thrown into the freezing pool.
The popular kids would just do weird stuff sometimes like beat up the 9th graders. It's stupid to pick fights with kids like that.
"Why?" Dani asked snapping me from my thoughts.
"Well we do something better." Logan smirked.

"Swimming at night?" Lola questioned staring at the crystal clear blue water. The school had a swim team and the pool was open tonight.
"Yeah, it's really cool." Logan said peeling his shirt off. Both Gage and Logan were fit. It was hard not to get flustered around them.
Well only, seeing the way Lola looks at Logan and how they instantly hit it off I'm guessing he's off limits. I feel something toward Gage more so than Logan, but there's no way I have chances with any of them.
Lola shrugged and pulled the tee shirt off, we had changed into bathing suits. I felt awkward, all of them were fit and everything but I'm just kinda there.
I pulled my hair into some kind of bun, then awkwardly pulled the tee shirt off. "Okay we always start by jumping into the deep end." Logan explained
"I can't swim." I said in a joking term. "Kidding." I added as they gave me questioning looks.
"The water looks black." I commented as we all stood at the edge of the water. "I'm in!" Logan yelled throwing himself in. Lola jumped in right after, fearlessly.
Gage looked at me, and I looked back. "On three?" He asked, the next thing surprised me. He grabbed my elbow.
My arm tensed up at this and then he slid his hand down to mine and I loosely held onto his.
"I'm scared of water!" He randomly yelled at the last second we jumped in.
We de attached hands and I swam to the top with everyone already up.
"Better than a party." Logan smirked.
