(Gage.)
I sat half asleep/ half awake at breakfast as Logan rambled on and on about his night with Lola.
I shoved some food in my mouth as Zeke, and some other kids gathered around the table and listened in. It's only because they think Lola is hot and have to hear these stories to see what it feels like to have a pretty girlfriend.
Dani came to my mind. Last night, I told her what I hadn't told anyone. My side of the story, but not the other side.
If she knew the other side, she'd forget about me. And she told me a lot too...I suddenly understood the strange quiet, funny, girl I hadn't before.
I don't really know why Dani sparked an intrest in me. She was so different though. And I am too.
"Gage." Logan said snapping me away from my thought. "I asked you a question, bro." He said and I quickly nodded "Oh sorry, I'm barely awake." I laughed a bit.
"Oh okay, well what are you doing for spring break?" He asked me. Spring break...oh yeah, it was in like two weeks.
Most kids go home, I can't. "I don't know." I shrugged trying to avoid the subject. "Well man, you can always stay with us if you want." Logan offered.
His family was super nice like that, I just needed to rethink the offer though.
"Thanks man." I said, taking a bite of the biscuit I had.
"Man, I'm getting my license in a week. I wanna go party this spring break!" Zeke added onto the conversation. I shook my head, that kid is the last person who needs to be driving.
Somebody sat down at the table, Lola with a sleepy looking Dani with her. I tensed a little bit, why does she make me nervous? Little Dani shouldn't make anyone nervous.
I realized that was Logan's nickname for her that I had used.
"Hey, I'm Lola." She said introducing herself to the group around us. The boys gawked at her and it was kind of funny.
"I'm Dani." She smiled awkwardly popping a grape in her mouth. "Dani?" Zeke asked coming over to sit down by her.
"Yeah." She flatly said obviously uninterested. Zeke isn't ugly, but Dani is out of his league.
With her bright green eyes, the few cute freckles on her nose. Her long wavy hair...oh my gosh what am I thinking?
"Zeke stop trying to pull a girl." Logan teased rolling his eyes. Zeke's face flushed and he got up and walked off. Dani laughed a little bit.
"Little Dani, what are you doing for Spring break?" He asked her. "Oh...I don't know." She shrugged a little. "Logan what are we doing?" Lola asked him starting their own conversation.
"You're not going home?" I blurted out. She shrugged "Me and my dad haven't made up." She said leaning an elbow on the table. It's been a year and I haven't made up with my dad.
"Sorry." I said pressing my lips together. "Don't be, I'm sure Marigold will come around with an offer for you." She winked of course sarcastically.
I started laughing "Don't say that." I shook my head not wanting to think of that girl.
"Okay, fine I'll leave you alone." She smiled sweetly.
(Dani.)
I sat in my class that I finally had gotten into, it was another elective type class.
Kids were still arriving, and in the middle I realized I had gotten into class with some "plastics"
A girl named Taylor, she had straight..pen straight, dark hair. She was thin and tall. Then there was Marigold of course. With her colored blonde high lights and perfect body.
Even though they were fake, they were gorgeous. It killed me to think Gage dated Marigold. She's so much better than me.
"Is this seat taken?" Taylor asked pointing to the spot across from mine. Both of them smelled like baby powder and perfume, and their make up which was caked on , was in tact.
I shook my head confirming that they sit there.
I didn't really care, not like I had to talk to them.
Then their other friend, Tanner..a skinny blonde, preppy looking kid sat down with the group. I fought the urge to roll my eyes at them.
Marigold stood over my desk. Why?
"You're new..right?" She asked me. I nodded "Yeah, I'm Dan-" I began but there was a brief hesitation between deciding on telling them "Dani" or "Daniele"
"I'm Daniele but, I go by Dani." I told the girl, her tan hand landed on my desk and I looked up at her.
She had on leggings, a long flowy shirt, a bright scarf, and her hair was in lose curls. It made me feel bad about the football tee shirt, and skinny jeans I had picked.
It was my lazy day in my defense..
"Oh, okay." She smiled oddly.
"I'm Marigold, and that's Taylor and Tanner." She gestured toward them, even though I already knew who they were I pretended I didn't.
"Okay." I said closing up my binder. I didn't have much to say to her, I didn't know what I would.
"You hang out with Lola and Logan and Gage right?" She asked me, I nodded "Yeah, Gage and I are sorta close." She smiled. I almost died laughing. Because that's not what he told me.
"Yeah?" I asked her, it almost felt like a warning. Her eyes skimmed over me "You're so pretty! Who's your boyfriend?" She asked randomly.
"I don't have one?" I said in kind of an upward question. This girl was gathering info and it threw me off. I desperately hoped someone like Logan would walk in.
Logan would be the type to call her out, plus he's a good friend. But I'm on my own in here.
"Oh?" She pressed her glossy lips together. I waited for the teacher to interrupt us, yet he just pointed to the board to read.
Marigold turned her desk around to face mine. "Sorry, I don't mean to bother you...Taylor and Tanner are a couple and it's so awkward." She rolled her eyes with the permanent smile.
I forced one on myself. "Yeah, with Lola and Logan it is." I said to her to try to make conversation. "So you and Gage don't Have a thing?" She asked me turning her head to the side.
Her colored hair fell along with it. "Nope." I said although I wish I did, and if I didn't know any better I would bring up that crush. But not to Marigold, I know her better than that already.
"Oh. Okay, I love your hair by the way." She said picking up a strand of it. After that she asked a series of questions about where I was from, what I did.
She almost was able to deal with.
Then we were just kind of talking about stories, even if I already didn't like her..having another friend felt good. Someone to talk to.
"So, like one time at a party Tanner Drank a little too much and fell face first into the pool. It was funny cus Logan has to pull him out." She told me talking about it. I laughed, it seemed like something he would have to do.
"Yeah, my twin brother had parties at our house a lot. A guy on the team , Alex, tried to kiss me. My brother freaked out." I laughed thinking about it which was honestly like the most attention I had gotten.
She had a cackling laughter, "Okay. Dani you need to come to one of my parties. I'm having one this weekend. They're really cool." She smiled twirling golden hair in her hands.
I wonder if it bothered her to know how fake she was.
My stomach twisted, go to Marigold's party? My friends hate her. Although I wasn't too fond of her she was sort of nice. I decided on telling a bit of a lie till I decided for myself.
"Sounds nice." I smiled but my chest burned.
A/n sorry it's sort of short and sloppy, thanks so much for reading! Xoxo
