(Dani.)
I had been driving for a while now, Gage drifted off into a sleep and it was afternoon now. Kind of late afternoon.
I couldn't stop thinking about my mom, I was glad that Gage dropped the subject because I didn't want to talk about it...I just couldn't quit thinking of it.
She was actually there, and of course I wouldn't say anything or approach her. I wouldn't know what to say and I didn't want to either.
Maybe a part of me did, but I didn't know what to do about it. I shook it off though, I was going to Florida for spring break. Not thinking about my mom.
I pulled onto the exit for the city we were staying in. Now all I needed was the address to the beach house we would be at.
Gage's head popped up as he rubbed his eyes. "Are we here?" He asked me groggily. "Yeah, could you read me the address?" I asked him.
I finally started to feel excited about this.
I could get away, and take my mind off of things and that dance thing....whatever I had with Gage. I was so excited and smiling ear to ear as Gage read the address out.
"It's on Watson road." He told me, pointing at the intersection with a street titled 'Watson'.
I turned down the street, there were only a few houses because they were all huge. Plus they were right on the water. "It's this blue one." He said pointing to the pale blue colored house.
"Wow." I breathed parking in the long driveway along with the other cars lined up.
"Lee and Trent are some of the coolest people. They're freaking 21 and Trent's parents are loaded so he inherited this place." Gage told me as we stepped out of the car feeling the warm saltwater scented breeze.
"Really? Are they like a couple?" I asked him referring to Trent and Lee. He nodded "They've been dating since they were like 15. I stayed here a few times with them and Logan." He said nodding.
I imagined us being together that long, wait...we aren't even a couple. "They're 21 and cool with having 16 and 17 year olds here?" I asked grabbing my stuff and throwing it over my shoulder.
He nodded "We're like the youngest ones. Everyone else is like 18,19...Ya know?" He asked leading me through the walkway.
I nodded, I felt a little anxious about being that young around people who were older. I obviously didn't wanna be the high school tag along.
"Trent and Lee are kind of like Logan and Lola but older." He explained opening up the front door. If they're like Logan and Lola, that relaxed me.
We stepped into the house, instantly it was beautiful. The furniture went well with the house, the windows were wide with views of the water and the afternoon sun shown inside.
"Hey guys!" Lola exclaimed running into the room and wrapping her newly tanned arms around us. She quickly pulled away "Ouch, sorry..I'm burned." She smiled revealing her sunburn.
"Hey." We both echoed. Both of us were really tired from taking turns driving all the way here. "I'm so glad you guys are here, it's amazing." She said smiling and putting her hands on her hips.
"Yeah me too." Gage said right as Logan walked out. He side hugged both of us. "Hey, guys how was Georgia?" He asked stepping back. He had a blonde streak in his hair from the sun and he was also tanned.
"Good, me and my dad are cool." Gage said obviously not opening up like he would have if we were alone. "Good." Logan said.
"So where's Lee and Trent?" Gage asked glancing around. "In the kitchen, come on." He said motioning for us to follow him. We all walked through the house to the kitchen.
"Hey." A guy called out as he stood next to a girl preparing a plate of cheese and crackers.
The guy was thick, muscular kind. He had dark hair and eyes and was tall. His skin was bronze and he wore a tank top like Logan did and board shorts. He was cute too.
The girl that stood by him must've been Lee. She was small kind of like me with a light blonde pony tail although her hair wasn't that long. She had big blue eyes and wore a tank top too.
"Hey Gage is here, and this is our friend Dani. She's actually from around here." Logan said motioning to us. "Hey." I smiled to them, struggling to keep up with bags I was holding.
"Oh yeah, you guys can go out your stuff in your rooms. It's nice to meet you!" Lee smiled motioning to the upstairs.
"Thanks." I smiled following Lola to the rooms. Logan and Gage followed us upstairs where we reached the loft.
After that there were two hallways with rooms branching off of them.
"Do you guys mind sharing a room?" Logan asked putting an arm around Lola's shoulder and biting his lip. It was obviously supposed to be me and Lola but I could tell the couple wanted to be together.
Gage looked at me "Fine by me." He said, "Yeah." I quickly agreed. "Okay, it's this one." Logan said pushing the door open to the bedroom.
It had two comfortable looking cots, a dresser, a TV and closet. It was pretty basic, yet it was cute.
There was a window that faced the water, you could see that this was private property so the public beach was down further.
"I love it here." I said resting my elbows on the window. We were going to have a whole week here. It would be so much fun.
"I know right, the first time I stayed here I was 13. It was the coolest thing ever to me." He said putting his duffle bag down on the floor by his cot.
I put my stuff down and started to get it organized. "Really? 13?" I asked laughing a little.
He nodded "Yeah, Trent is friends with Logan's older brother. We came here every spring break. " he told me sitting down.
"Trent and Lee are like older siblings to me, the others are cool too." He said going through the Dresser drawers and pulling out a photo album. "This was the past spring breaks." He said handing it to me.
I sat down next to him and flipped through the pictures.
He was 13 in the first few, and he was adorable in them. He looked kind of awkward middle school aged. "Awh! Look at this!" I giggled pointing to one of them with him and Logan.
We passed one where he sat awkwardly with a girl who had brown hair and was skinny. I didn't want to ask who she was.
We got through the album and he put it back. "Yeah, now you're gonna be in here." He smiled facing me. "Yeah?" I asked him. "Yeah." He smiled leaning in and kissing me.
Every Time he does I'm shocked, and a shock runs through me. I love it. He pulled away and stood up. "Okay, we better go downstairs and see what's going on." He told me leading me down the stairs.
I followed him where now more people were standing around eating snacks and talking. Logan and Lola stood there and acknowledged us.
"Hey!" The group cheered. "Hey." We echoed joining them. "Gage!" They exclaimed people slapped him on the back, or side hugged him. Or they did the bro hand shake. "This is our friend Dani." Logan said and instantly people greeted me.
A girl pushed her way through the crowd, she looked familiar. She was the girl from the photo album. She had the dark brown hair to her shoulders that was straight and skinny tanned arms that wrapped around Gage's shoulders.
"Gage!" She smiled into his chest. "Hey, Kenzie." He smiled hugging her back. I felt a little jealous, I couldn't lie.
Somebody wolf whistled adding insult to injury. "I missed you!" She said to him. "Yeah you too." He smiled.
"Oh, I'm Kenzie. It's nice to meet you." She said reaching her hand out. "I'm dani." I said smiling through gritted teeth.
"Dani, this was my first kiss." Gage smiled motioning to her. Okay, that killed me. "Awh." I lied cocking my head to the side.
She was gorgeous, of course that'd happen.
"Oh, I'm Noah." One guy said with long black hair. "I'm David, but they call me Jr." The next guy said with blonde curls. "I'm Kayla." A girl with chocolate curls said.
This was going to be a big house. Around the corner someone came walking, Chase. From school. How was he here? "Oh and this is my brother." Logan said pointing to Chase.
Chase was his brother? No way. "Wait, Chase...you're his brother?" I asked confused. He nodded, "Yeah. You didn't know?" He asked. I shook my head.
"I never made the connection." I shrugged standing by them.
"Well, get ready for the best spring break you've ever had." Trent smiled.
