(Gage.)
I got up the next morning after I fell asleep on the couch, David was the only other one who had fallen asleep in here.
Dani, I needed to go make things right with her.
I walked into the main area and the kitchen. It was 11:00 am, she wasn't in there. That's weird, she's usually up before then.
"Morning." Trent said. "Good morning." I said, walking toward the stairs. "Hey, want some coffee?" He asked, holding up the coffee pot. I shook my head "I really need to talk to Dani." I told them.
He and Lee exchanged looks but I went ahead and went to our room.
I went over in my head what I would say to Dani. I just needed to come clean, she'd understand. That's what I like about her.
I Pushed the door open and saw my messy cot with all my stuff everywhere, then an empty one. All of her stuff was gone. Maybe she moved to Lola's room?
Where else would she have gone?
I slowly walked downstairs with a sick feeling in my stomach. It wasn't looking good.
"Hey." I said to everyone in the kitchen. They looked up looking kind of nervous, I bet something went wrong.
"Where's..dani?" I asked crossing my arms. Lola looked over to Lee before she spoke. "She's gone. She went to Alabama." She said.
Alabama?
She went home?
"What do you mean she went to Alabama?" I asked. "She just went to figure things out." Lola told me defensively.
"Is she coming to school?" I asked. She nodded "Yeah, last time I checked." She said. I sighed and turned around putting my hands to my eyes. This could be it.
I walked outside on the back porch and took my phone out. I hadn't checked it anyway in a while.
There were two new texts and some random Twitter notifications I didn't really care about. I needed to see what Dani had said.
"Gage, I'm sorry but I went ahead and left. It's not so much personally you its just that I need time to figure things out. Don't be mad."
I rolled my eyes and dialed her number. After a couple of rings, she picked up.
"Hello?" She answered. "Where are you?" I asked annoyed. "Alabama, I needed to talk to my dad-" she began and I interrupted. "Okay, so you went to Alabama after we got into one fight?" I asked her.
"Don't pretend you don't know why I left, and don't call me to yell at me." She scolded. I was taken aback by Dani's sudden courage.
"Talk to me again when I see you at school. I'm done fighting with you." She said and hung up. I was losing it all.
(Dani.)
I had parked out back to be able to surprise my family so they wouldn't see my car.
That way in the morning I got up earlier and made the traditional pancakes, doing things would keep my mind off of the Gage situation. And I had to tell my dad I had been in Florida anyway.
I started to set the table once I had finished cooking, then Peyton walked in. I had still been thinking about him, but thankfully forgotten when I walked out last time.
"Dani!?" He exclaimed with wide eyes. I nodded "Yeah, I've been on break and came home." I smiled. "Are you staying?" He asked as I put food on his plate.
Jack also came out then, "I don't know yet, I'll have to talk to dad." I told him. I looked up and acknowledged Jack. I didn't realize how much I missed my twin.
"Hey." I said to him. "You came home?" He asked me. "Spring break." I explained sitting down with them. I even missed my own cooking.
"I'm about to get in so much trouble though." I weakly smiled to him. He didn't even have time to ask why when my dad had woken up.
Here goes nothing, I had to tell him. I really needed to clear the air.
After all of the greetings and everything he sat down to eat. That's it.
"So, dad...I actually went to Georgia with a friend and then we went to another friend's beach house in Florida." I told him biting my tongue.
"What?" He asked. Jack's eyes were locked on me in shock and Peyton didn't really pay attention he was too busy eating.
"I went to my friend's house in Georgia, and met their family. Then, another friend invited us to their beach house about two hours from here in Florida so I drove there and came home last night." I said slowly, letting him take it all in.
"Daniele Jane Smith." He used my full name and I winced.
Okay, never mind on 100% honesty. I'm going with a lie that Lola lives in Georgia. If I said it was my boyfriend he'd Stab me.
"I'm not going to say sorry, I'll sound like a huge idiot." I told him managing a smile that quickly faded. "What the hell were you thinking!?" He asked annoyed.
"I wasn't. I was thinking 'wow, my dad really wants me to leave and go to boarding school so he wouldn't care'." I said letting my self control totally leave.
"Yeah, I obviously was thinking you didn't want me around and of course mom doesn't so I did whatever. Yeah, dad I know I'm a screw up but at least I admitted it. I'll be happy to go back to Tennessee and stay out of your hair." I rolled my eyes crossing my arms and going to my bedroom.
Now I wanted Gage back. I wanted to talk to him, and him to relate a story to me and him to tell me we were alright. I thought about him in Florida. Everything falling apart.
The door creaked open and Peyton and Jack walked in. "What was that?" Jack asked staring in my mirror and taking my hair brush without asking as usual. I stopped caring a while ago though.
"I doubt you'd understand it." I told him falling back on my bed. "Why?" He asked with a plain face. "Because dad didn't kick you out and send you to Tennessee." I said sarcastically. "He didn't kick you out either." He said firmly.
I rolled my eyes "Yeah okay whatever." I said. "What's wrong?" Peyton asked me. "I'm a stupid teenager." I shrugged making him grin.
"Why do yo act like his, Dani?" Jack asked me. "Like what?" I scowled folding my arms at him. "Like you think nobody needs to and you just leave everyone alone." He said.
Did I? But it was true.
"Well last time I checked my mom walked out on the family, I got dumped for not sleeping with my boyfriend, my dad sent me to boarding school, my family never called, and I got cheated on so when I come here hoping to get some reassurance I also get the same thing. Did it occur to anyone that I'm not wanted?" I asked with tears brimming in my eyes.
I had actually said it. Said what I had been holding in forever.
Jack's eyes widened and thankfully Peyton had already left.
"That's not true Dani." He sighed. I nodded "It is though." I said.
I ended up telling him everything. Including the stuff about Gage and Kenzie and Chase in my car and everything. And he sat back and listened.
"So you ended up spending spring break with your burn out athlete friends in Florida at their beach house?" He smirked a little. I slowly nodded listening to what he said. I sounded stupid.
"They're the coolest people ever though." I told him.
"Well how about I kill your boyfriend-" he started and I cut him off. "No, I think we're done." I said. Really and truly it became less of an idea and more of a truth.
"Well, I'm failing chemistry and Algebra 2." He shrugged making my mouth drop open.
"So dads gonna kill the both of us?" I asked him.
"Yep."
