Ranboo's words repeated in Sylvia's head as she stepped into her castle.

Sylvia expected the entire staff to be at her feet, crying at her return, but it was the complete opposite. It was completely silent.

She kept her sword with her because of the eerie feel.

The castle seemed colder as if it had been abandoned for months. There were no candles lit, no foot steps.

Sylvia glanced around, walking throughout the halls hoping for movement or any sound aside from her heels hitting the floor.

Just as she was about to give up hope, she heard a door slam in the direction of her father's old office.

Her heart rate quickened at the sound, carefully unveiling her sword.

It was impossible to be stealthy, focusing on the sound of her heels echoing the empty halls.

As she approached her father's office, she noticed the stack of books that were up against the wall.

Her forehead creased at the sight, turning her attention to the sounds behind the door. Sylvia slowly reached for the doorknob, the door being thrown open in an instant.

A woman steps out, dropping another stack of books from her hands upon seeing Sylvia.

"Princess Sylvia! I-it's you!"

"Melanie, I had a feeling you'd still be here." Sylvia's voice was low.

"What ever could you mean?" Melanie laughed nervously, eyeing the sword in Sylvia's hand.

"You have a lot of nerve to be showing your face around here after what you did."

"I'm sorry?"

"Cut the innocence act, Melanie, I know about your association with Schlatt."

Melanie's soft expression turned dull.

"I knew you'd find out eventually."

"Glad you're not trying to defend yourself."

"There's no point if the truth is already revealed." Melanie shrugged.

"So what was your role?"

"I was the one who poisoned the King, but you've probably heard that already."

"Be more specific."

"Fine, I managed to get my hands on some phenol, and I waited until Schlatt and the King were having drinks one night. I poured a pretty decent amount into the King's drink, then delivered the drinks to him and Schlatt. According to Schlatt, because he was having a bad day, he was going through drinks like crazy, somehow not even detecting the phenol's odor in the drink. The crazy bastard described it in detail, how he took sips from his own drink as he watched the King pass out and fall from his chair, eventually dying on the floor."
