“What do you mean you left him there?!” Isabella screamed at Jay as him, Matt and his brothers arrived back.
“Exactly what I just said. We got in a car and he was still there.” He answered, obviously agitated by her anger towards him.
The fact that he had explained how he had saved his life and she still managed to focus on the one small detail of them leaving, was pushing every single one of his buttons.
“How could you just leave him there?! He could be hurt?! Something could have happened to him!!!” Her volume was increasing and her hands were flying in all sorts of directions, shocked at how the gang didn’t seem to have one piece of regret in them.
“Iz you need to calm down, Jay saved his arse from getting killed, even though he has been a twat to us since he got here.” Matt tried to intervene.
“You could have still brought him back with you. Not left him there alone.” A tear fell from her eye and she immediately wiped it away, not wanting them to see her vulnerable.
If she had learnt anything since being with George, it was that in this life tears didn’t work. It just made you look weaker.
“You know he’s not in the right frame of mind. He’s not himself. He might do something stupid!”
Jay’s whole body suddenly turned around, Nessa reaching out to grab him but just missing.
He made his way over to Isabella and stood in front of her, about 2cm separating them apart.
“I’ve tried. I’ve fucking tried to warn him and stop him from making shitty decisions but he doesn’t want to know. I’m not going to waste my time chasing around a twat who is just going to throw it back in my face anyway. He wouldn’t take a bullet for any of us here, so why the fuck should we do it for him?!” He spat, his chest rising and falling, the pulse in his neck throbbing, through pure anger.
Pursing her lips together, Isabella narrowed her eyes before taking in a deep breath.
“I hate you.” She hissed, throwing her arms out as she began to hit against his chest over and over.
Grabbing her wrists, he yanked her body to a stop and pulled her closer to him.
“You’re going to want to stop that.” He warned, her lips parting as she looked at him in fear. “You’re fighting the wrong battle here Isabella.”
“Jay!” Cole stepped forward pulling him back and making him release her.
But Isabella was quick to jump back at him, throwing herself into him and hitting with all the frustration she had built up inside.
“Ay, no stop…” Cole then took her waist from behind, pulling her from Jay.
Turning her body around so she was facing him, he cupped her face with both of his hands.
“You need to calm down. Believe it or not Jay isn’t the bad guy here…” He looked up at him and smirked. “… for once.”
Breathing desperately, her chest was pounding up and down as she caught his focus and held it.
“He’s not answering my calls.” She finally broke, tears now falling erratically and with no effort from her to stop them.
Pausing for a moment, he then ran a thumb under her eye, wiping away the dampness.
“He doesn’t deserve our help.” Cole began. “He’s made it clear he wants to do it alone.”
“But he doesn’t mean it. He’s not thinking straight.”
