“You need to back off Purcell.” George walked back over to where he was standing.
He had sent Isabella off in the taxi in hope to keep her as far away from this as possible. She had been involved with his issues once, he didn’t need it happening again.
“That’s going to be difficult when we’re all here in Vegas, don’t you think?” Brent had a smug look on his face, one that was odd seeing him display. When they had all worked as a team, as family, he had been a dangerous guy but still a caring guy.
He was a completely different person now. Like the old him never existed.
It was likely it never even had. Brent had been playing them the whole time so all of what they knew about him, had to have been an act.
“What are you doing out here?” George asked, in hope of getting some kind of lead to what was going on.
“I heard Jay and his new formed gang was out here, I had to take a look for myself. I’m impressed.” He spoke honestly, but a hint of spite in his voice.
“So you’re out here just to size up the competition?”
“That was part of it, but it also happens to be because a certain Matt Russle.” He began and George began to mentally curse due to the fact he had text Matt for back up. “He played me like a fool, pretending to stand by us when his loyalties lied with you the whole damn time.”
“Can you blame him?” George posed the honest question. “You were supposed to be a brother to us, our gang was one of the strongest and you fucked it up.”
George and Brent had always been close and since everything had gone down, they hadn’t experienced a one on one confrontation. There had been so much George wanted to say and ask yet he hadn’t had the chance. Now he was here, he felt like he should use it to get the answers. But he was also unsure if doing that would cause more damage than needed.
“You won’t understand why I did it yet, but I can assure you, you’ll find out.” Brent spoke confidently, yet George wasn’t quite following.
“And how will I do that?” He asked, wanting to hurry this conversation on and get out of here before Matt arrived and all hell broke loose.
“I don’t need to guide you, the reason you’re out here for will guide you to the answers.” He nodded before turning around and heading back into the casino George and Isabella had just left.
Standing still for moment, just watching Brent walk off, he tried to make connections between everything he had just been told. He didn’t understand what he was talking about. He didn’t know how being out here for the money was going to lead him to those answers. None of it made sense.
“Dude, are you alright?” Matt rushed up behind him, pulling his jacket over his body.
“Yeah… I’m good.” He trailed off.
“Then why the fuck did you tell me to hurry here? What happened?”
Shaking his head, George looked back to the entrance of the casino and then back over to Matt.
“It was Brent. He’s up to something and I don’t know what. You also need to stay away from him.”
Shoving the gun back into his pocket, Matt looked every little bit of angry.
“What the fuck are you going on about Shelley? I just left Juliet to come here and that’s all you tell me?”
Letting his shoulders drop, George vigorously ran his hands through his hair, pulling onto the ends as he did so.
