Joe and Isabella sat opposite Scott, the chattering from all the other visitors around them making the moment more relaxing.
They had left Buddy’s place feeling extremely confused and hurt by what had been displayed across the walls and they needed Scott’s help. He seemed to be the only person who knew and who would actually help them.
“Explain.” Joe demanded, looking at his father with pure disgust.
Even though this was nothing to do with him, he still held a huge grudge over everything wrong Scott had ever done.
He had put both him and Isabella through hell and made Joe miss out on so much of his little sister’s life.
“I will tell you what you want to know as long as you promise not to tell the gang.” Scott responded and Isabella and Joe looked between themselves.
“It’s for the better.” Scott continued. “They will lose it and everyone will be in danger.”
So he got the nod from the pair he was hoping for.
“You got it spot on, Buddy killed George’s, Matt’s and Josh’s parents for his own sake. He made Jess’ mum kill her dad too, all so the gang would be his and so would the money.”
“So why did you say that you killed George’s parents?” Isabella asked the question she had been dying to be given an answer about.
“Because Buddy is a sick man and he has a lot on everyone. He is full of blackmail and that is why I got forced into covering his back.”
Listening to Scott explain everything, he sounded vulnerable for the first time in his life. He was sat here in prison, locked behind bars deservingly, but it had also broken him down to the man he truly was. The man their mum had first met.
“What about Jay? His parents are still alive? Why? Is he in on it?” Joe asked question after question, not having time to let any of this carry out for longer than need be. They needed to know who was safe to be around and who wasn’t.
“He isn’t in on it.” Scott began, before tapping his fingers on the table in a nervous sort of gesture. “When Jay left home due to being treated like shit, he went back to retaliate. He went back to kill his own parents for everything they had done to him.”
The expressions on Isabella’s and Joe’s faces were complete opposites. While Joe looked completely unsurprised, knowing of the guy Jay truly was, Isabella couldn’t quite believe it. She knew he wasn’t all hearts and roses but she had never thought of him as that dangerous.
“His parents then turned to Buddy, asked him to take Jay in and keep him distracted from what his intentions were. Of course Buddy agreed, he did just as they asked but at a price. They paid him a lot of money and he also made them promise to never speak to Jay again, they were to act as if he never existed.”
The tension in Scott’s voice was more than noticeable as he took a deep breath.
“That’s why when he saw them in Vegas, they acted like they didn’t know who he was. But of course they did.”
“Why would he want them to do that? I don’t understand…” Isabella’s pained voice asked.
“The Gibson’s are dangerous enough alone. Can you imagine what they are capable of as a family?” Scott asked and he truly had a point, but it was heart breaking to listen to.
His parent’s had probably seen him and been dying to speak but they knew it wasn’t safe to.
“Buddy’s scared of them, that’s obvious and his parents would happily kill the bastard with their son’s help, but they made a deal and they have to stick to it. Jay can’t find that out. He will lose it.”
