A week had passed and Juliet and Isabella had both agreed that it was about time to tell the truth about what they knew. They had tried to talk Jack into him and Jess joining them so the gang could be told together, but he refused. He knew himself Jess wouldn’t want to be told in front of them, he knew tears were likely to be shed and the last thing she wanted was to show vulnerability in front of the gang. So instead he was going to choose the right time and do the job himself.
With them both heading off on their honeymoon for a week, not wanting to leave the kids alone for too long, he had already decided to wait until they got home. He wasn’t going to let Buddy’s mistakes ruin what was going to be some time away all to themselves. Jess was finally a Lawrence, something they had both wanted so badly for a long time. The Montague name didn’t need to be brought into it until they arrived back to reality.
“Are you sure we should do this?” Juliet turned to Isabella as they made their way inside Jay’s place, where George and Matt already were.
“It’s going to come out at some point. I would rather it be from us. George has already let things overcome him once, I don’t want it to happen again.”
Isabella was sure on every word she was saying, not wanting to take any risks in letting George sink back into the monster he became.
“Okay… but Matt’s going to be so mad.” Juliet replied, caution in her voice.
Grabbing Juliet’s hand, Isabella then smiled at her in reassurance.
“He probably will, but he will get over it. He’ll will be pleased it came from you.” She spoke as calmingly as she could, yet inside she knew this probably wasn’t going to go down well. She had seen the whole gang go through hell over the years and this was going to top it off. “Did you warn Nessa?”
“Yeah, she knows everything.”
“Then we’re ready. Let’s do it!”
The girls headed for the living room where they could hear voices, and those voices stopped the moment the girls walked in.
“Did we interrupt something?” Isabella asked, unable to hold in a smile from their instant need to pause in conversation.
“Just business.” George replied and began walking towards her.
Since reconnecting with both himself and the guys he called brothers, he had been getting more involved in the gang. He didn’t want to jump right in due to the change in circumstances, but he needed to be a part of it. It was still a huge thing in his life.
“What kind?” Isabella raised an eye, in hope she would get him to share.
Placing a kiss to her forehead, George paused and then leant his head against hers, looking directly into her eyes.
The pace of Isabella’s heart picked up, this all still feeling so alien due to all the time they had spent apart. Moments like this made her realise how much she had missed him. How much she needed him.
“None of your business.” He grinned, amused with his own joke.
“Ha, ha, you’re so funny.”
Pushing at his chest, Isabella began to walk in the opposite direction before George reached his hand out, pulling her back towards him.
“Babe, I’m sorry. I was just messing around…” He trailed off, full on panic at the thought of already managing to upset her or create tension between the two of them.
Not being able to hold it out for long, Isabella began to laugh before squeezing herself up against his side, wrapping her arms around his body.
“I know.” She smirked up at him.
