"Is mom going to be okay?" I asked one of the royal nurses as she rushed by. No one answered my questions, they all seemed too busy. But soon, my dad was at my side. "It'll be alright, she is just going through a rough labor. She is having twins. Your going to have two younger siblings!"
My eyes went wide with shock. Two younger siblings? I just hoped at least one of them would be a boy. I would love to have a younger brother, even though he would be seven years younger than me.
A nurse rushed out and said, "it's finished. You can see your mother now, and your two new sisters!" I was a bit disappointed on the inside, but I didn't show my anger, for my father would be upset at me.
We walked into my mother's room. She was holding two baby girls, both asleep and wrapped in blankets.
"Hello Rowan, would you like to meet your new sisters?" She asked. I nodded and slowly walked over to my mother. She looked at the baby on the right and said, "this is Atheena". She looked at the baby on the left and said, "and this is Alexandria".
I smiled and said, "hello Altheena and Alexandria!" Mother and father smiled at my excitement for my new siblings.
Two months passes, and the kingdom of Talahan was in celebration for the two new princesses. But little did we know that our celebration would soon end.
It was late at night, and I wanted to wish my two sisters goodnight, so I got up and walked towards their room. When I walked in, I saw something that I would never forget. A hooded figure was holding Atheena in one hand, and a knife in the other.
"No!" I screeched. The hooded figure looked up at me, and then it happened. I couldn't tell if it was an accident or on purpose, but he cut Atheena's face from her cheek to her chin, left side. I screamed.
Suddenly, my father and two guards came barging through the door. Before they could say anything, I ran to Alexandria and held her protectively as she cried and wailed. "I will ask you once to put my daughter down!" My father said. The hooded figure lightly laughed.
Then, he jumped out the window. "NO!" I screamed once more. The guards surged forward towards the window. They looked outside it for a minuet or two before saying, "their is no sign of him, your highness. I am terribly sorry".
I collapsed on my knees and held Alexandria tightly as she cried, her tears mixing with mine. I sat there for only God knows how long. Then I whispered to her, "I promise, I'll always be there for you. I'll never let you get taken like Atheena. You will always have my protection".
We never told Alexandria about Atheena. No one was to speak of her in the kingdom of Talahan, it was forbidden. Though everyone knew one way or another, they followed the rules and never spoke her name.
