Later than evening, I sat down with my family for dinner. Our table was huge, so I didn't really sit near anyone. "Alexandria, I have wonderful news" said father. Great. More "wonderful" news. "What is it, father?" I asked as happily as I could. But I couldn't be so happy when my father bruised my face after telling me that I was set up in an arranged marriage.

"We will be going to Doriella tomorrow to see Prince Laithen, your future husband" said mother excitedly. "Tomorrow?" I asked quietly. Mothers smile faded. "Is something wrong, my dear?" She asked. It was like she didn't see the giant bruise on my face! Was she blind?

"No. I'm fine" I mumbled. I gripped my skirt in anger. But as I did, it happened again. Black mist came from in between my knuckles. Then, dark shadows ran from my hand and down my skirt. I gasped and took my hand off of my skirts. The mist and shadows disappeared. "Alexandria! Are you alright?!" Asked Rowen.

"I-I'm not very hungry, I want to go to sleep" I said quickly. What was going on with me? Why was this happening? "Alexandria, you sit down this instant! Their is much we need to discuss!" Said father. "I'm feeling sick, I need to rest" I insisted. I got up and headed for the door.

"Alexandria, wait!" Said Rowen, but I ran out of the dining room, through the corridors, and into my room. I shut the door behind me and locked it. I paced around my room and told myself over and over again, "this is just a dream. It's not really happening. It's just a dream". But as I paced, black shadows came from my feet and Rose all around me.

I screamed and ran to the corner of my room. What was going on with me?! What were those shadows coming from me? I collapsed to the ground in fear. My body was shaking. I was never so afraid in my life. Then, the shadows appeared again. They came from under me, and they spread across the floor in my room. Then, they started whispering.

I couldn't hear what they were saying, for they were saying many things at once. I was too scared to scream. I was too scared to move. Then, I heard a knock on my door.

"Alexandria, please open up!" It was Rowen. I tried to say his name, but no words came out of my mouth. "Alexandria?" He asked. He pounded on my door. "Are you alright? Open up, please!" He pounded harder and louder, and the shadows disappeared. I was too shocked to move.

"Alexandria, please!!" He yelled. I stood up, my legs shaking in fear. What the hell just happened? I slowly walked towards the door and opened it. Then, I started to feel light headed.

"Alexandria, are you alright?" Asked Rowen. I didn't respond. Instead, I passed out in his arms.
