"Kiss for the road?" Dabi asks. You nod softly, allowing him to kiss your lips.
He's leaving you again. To get Bakugou. He's leaving with Compress to get a high vantage point and you're to stay here in the woods, hidden from the Pro heroes. Though you don't know why he trusts you. Everything seems to go wrong with you. Everything. So you're trying to be brave even though you can feel yourself freaking out from being alone. And he's not even gone yet.
Dabi runs his thumb across you bottom lip, winks, and then takes off with Compress, leaving you alone in a dark and burning forest. You take a deep breath and start pacing, a habit you do when you're freaking out. It helps you to relax, to breathe. So you walk back and forth, listening to the sounds of the fight. Listening to sounds of the kids screaming and trying to win. And when you can't take it anymore, you run off to see what's happening out there.
There's not much to see. Besides Compress as Dabi's flames surrounding the kids as they run. But then Dabi and Compress disappear when the kids think they've got him. You watch Bakugou slow down, looking around for Dabi as the group runs off without him.
"Bakugou!" Todoroki yells. "Hurry up!"
"Shut up, Icy hot! I can protect myself!" he yells.
And before he can run to the group, Dabi sweeps in, attacking with flames at the group. Luckily, Todoroki deflects them with ice before anyone got hurt. Compress comes up behind them, trapping Tokoyami, one of the students with a powerful quirk in the dark, into a marble. You frown, gripping the tree as you watch. He then dodges the students attacks and marbleizes a struggling Bakugou in Dabi's arms.
"Give them back!" Midoriya yells.
"Nah, I don't think so, kid," Dabi says, holding one of the marbles in his hand. "We'll keep them both."
Lies. Lies lies lies lies lies lies lies. It's a diversion. They're going to give the kids a fighting chance and when they get Tokoyami, they'll realize, the League has won, and there's nothing they can do. They want to crush their hope.
"You can't take them!"
"Why don't you stop bitching and let us go?" Dabi asks.
"Now, that, would be brilliant," Mr. Compress says, stomping his cane on the ground. "I think we'll go now."
Dabi smirks. "Good idea."
He lifts his hand, you enhance his quirk, giving him the opportunity to win and get to the meeting point. He smiles, blasting it more. He told you it's nice that you can help. He can use his quirk more without burning himself. Without hurting himself. He mentioned it was a relief. He hates having to control his quirk or else he'd burn.
"I like your scars," you said one night as you lay in his arms.
He smiled softly. "Oh, yeah?"
"Yeah. They aren't scary. I think," you murmured. "I think I like them because scars remind me of the pain people went through. And when I see them, I know that they fought a hard battle and managed to win."
He held you, not saying anything for a moment. "Yeah," he said. "There's one way to look at them." He ran his thumb down your scars. Down the claw marks on your chin and neck. "Is that how you view yours?"
You shrugged. "I don't know."
"How come?"
You shrugged again. "Sometimes they make me feel weak," you whispered. "I was caught in the middle of a fight. I got yelled at by the heroes. It doesn't make me feel stronger."
