Todoroki steps into the room shutting the door behind him. You frown, still sitting in bed since this morning. You've asked for Todoroki a few times, but he was always busy with other things. So you waited patiently alone. You got to text Touya, so you weren't too upset. But now that Todoroki is here, you have to talk to him about the news.

"What was that yesterday?" he asks before you can even start. His voice is quiet, but to convince anyone outside, he says louder, "How are you?"

"Plans have changed," you say quietly, picking at the sheets, your eyes lowered to the bed. "I'm good."

He doesn't respond, but merely pulls up the chair and sits, his eyes hard set on the door with his arms cross tightly against his chest. "What do you mean?"

"Tomorrow."

He whips his head to you, any faster and he might've broken his neck. "Tomorrow?"

"We attack," you whisper, careful not to be too loud in case someone is listening in. Then you say louder, "Tomorrow is my birthday," you say with a grin.

"It's your birthday?"

You nod, and smile. "Yes! Aren't you excited for me?"

Of course, it's not really going to be your birthday, but just to be safe, and to see if anyone was really listening in, you lie. Todoroki caught on and plays along with you, returning his cold gaze to the door again.

"I am." He smiles softly, and you wish Touya could've been here to see. Todoroki rarely smiles when he's with the League, and Touya's been trying to make him smile. He'll crack jokes, make fun of Endeavor, whatnot, but it seems he's just too busy being suffocated by his own head. "What do you want for your birthday?"

Mostly to be with Touya, finally, but you'll give out a fake gift. "I think small daisy earrings would be really nice, but I don't want anything specific. I'd be okay if I didn't get anything anyway. I've gotten used to not celebrating my birthday." It wasn't a full lie. You do want something, or rather, someone. But it's true that you never really celebrated your birthday, especially with people. You were always alone, blowing out a candle in a cupcake or a cookie you got at a small coffee shop. You didn't invite people over and you definitely didn't tell people it was your birthday that day. You weren't looking for attention. That was the last thing you wanted on your birthday.

But thinking about birthdays makes you stop. When's Touya's? When's Shiggy's? Twice's? Toga's? Compress's? Do they celebrate them? The thought of them spending their birthday alone makes your heart ache, and you want to give them all the love they deserve to make up for the lost moments. For the countless hours they spent alone, wishing they had someone to be there with them. You wish you could've been there with them.

He nods, and a small smile forms on his lips again. "I'm sure we could get that for you."

The silence fills the room, so you play with the sheets, staring down at the bed. The same bed that Hawks laid you in. It makes you shudder when you think of how he held you. Almost exactly like Touya does. And you hate it. God, you hate it so much. You don't ever want to feel his arms around you like that. Ever.

"Midoriya told me something yesterday," you mumble.

"Oh?" Regardless of the questioning look, you know he's aware of what Midoriya said. He has to be. "What's that?"

"That I was working for the League."

His facial expression doesn't move, doesn't even flinch, but with the way his fist clenches, you know it unnerves him. "I know," he says. Almost softly, like he feels bad.
