stares

Hawks offers to help Endeavor stand, but he refuses and gets up himself. "You two are going to be the death of me," he mutters.

Actually, his two sons will be the death of him. You're just going to help.

"Don't be like that, Endeavor. You'll ruin the mood." Endeavor just shakes his head and resumes his work at his desk.

"What a buzzkill," you mutter to Hawks.

He nods his head, folding his arms across his chest. "Such a party pooper."

"Truly."

Endeavor doesn't make any sign that he's listening to you, and if it weren't for Hawks, you would've kept going, just to provoke him more. But no. You have to patrol with Hawks now.

The heroes have given you a new costume, since you didn't bring your villain one with you, and to say this is less revealing is. . . well it's lying. Your villain costume covered up more of your body, leaving you to feel comfortable in it. And this. . . this makes you severely uncomfortable. You asked for a new costume, but you were told that as a healer, exposing more skin might be better. What does exposing your skin have to do with being a healer? As far as you're concerned, your quirk doesn't require physical touch to heal. At least Todoroki gave you a jacket to wear over the costume. You thanked him profusely and prayed that no would take it away from you.

Hawks left you to go change into your costume. Your ugly, disgusting costume. It's skin tight, hugging your curves tightly, leaving your legs and arms exposed. Not only that, the suit doesn't have a part covering your stomach. You feel like you're completely bare. To top it off, they've given you a belt that holds all your medical supplies. The direst ones at least. And they've given you knee length heels. You've never hated an outfit more. And it's all yellow. Yellow. Maybe if it was turquoise, you wouldn't hate it as much but this is too bright, it's too outstanding. Everyone's eyes will be on you now. You can't go out in public like this. You can't do that. You can't. You can't. You can't. You can't. You can't. You can't. You can't. You can't. You can't. You can't. You ca—

"Hey, kid? You ready?" Hawks raps on the door, startling you.

You frown. Hawks seems to like you. Like. . . like like you. Not just like. And you hate it more than anything. You haven't done anything to lead him on. You don't flirt with him, you don't like talking to him much, and you run from him any given chance, especially if Touya is calling you. So the fact that he keeps trying and has the audacity to give you nicknames makes you uncomfortable. He stopped calling you other nicknames but he can't seem to let kid go. You'll let it slide since you'll be betraying his ass soon.

The second you step out of the door, you want to step back in and shield yourself. Hawks's eyes travel up and down your body, drinking you in. Just as quickly, he looks away, coughing. Sure, he looked away, but there's bound to be others on the street who won't. And that still doesn't hide the blush that powdered his cheeks and nose. But you take a deep breath, just like Touya taught you. Deep breath in. Deep breath out. Deep. Breath. In. Deep. Breath. Out.

"Shall we?" he asks.

You simply nod, wrapping Todoroki's jacket tighter around your body, trying to keep yourself as hidden as possible. Why you're going on patrol with him, you don't know. You're not a hero. You didn't go to school for it. Isn't that like a requirement? Sure, you're older than the kids, but that doesn't give you a free pass to protect everyone.

Some days it hurts. It hurts a lot. You miss Touya and your late-night hugs. You miss falling asleep in his arms. You miss him practicing his quirk so you can use his hand as a heating pad during cramps. You miss being able to hold him when he's dealing with his motion sickness. You miss playing games with Shiggy. You miss girl talk with Toga. You miss binge watching shows with Twice while snacking on food. You miss Compress's magic tricks. You miss them. Here, with the heroes, you don't have a bond with them. Todoroki is your closest friend but he's still a student here. You're mostly with Hawks and Endeavor than anyone else. But you're grateful you can call Touya. And you still see him twice a week. You fall asleep to Touya's voice on the other line but it's nothing like feeling his arms around you. You want the real thing.

Another deep breath and you're suddenly walking outside, staring straight ahead as people gawk at you.

"Who is she?" people whisper as you walk past.

"She must be a new hero."

Hawks walk down the street with a lazy smirk plastered on his face, his hands on his pockets. He winks to passing girls who giggle and wave at him. He widens his smile for little kids who look up to him. And he simply nods to parents who thank him along the way. Jealousy resonates inside you, wishing you didn't care what people thought about you so much, wishing the stares didn't scare you. But they do. And you try to cover your scar, the one thing everyone always asks you about. Hawks asked. All Might asked. Aizawa asked. The students asked. Everyone always asks. Everyone always wants to know. You want them to stop prying, to stop staring.

"Kid." His voice sounds like an echo, the sounds of people muttering suddenly becoming overwhelming.

I want to go home, you try to say. But no sound escapes your lips. It gets lodged in your throat, suffocating you.

"Hey, kid, breathe. You need to breathe."

I'm trying, you want to say.

"Kid—"

"You put a damaged girl in a skin tight sex outfit, and expect her to be okay with it? Wow. What a nice hero we have here."

Blue flames take over the street, surrounding you and Hawks. He shoves you behind him, immediately going into Pro Hero mode. People scream and run, and Hawks watches to make sure everyone evacuates safely. You, you just stare ahead, waiting for him to step out of the smoke.

"Endeavor," he calls over the earpiece. "We have a situation. Get here. Now."

"Don't bother. I won't be here long."

It's Touya. Oh god, it's Touya. You have to keep yourself rooted to resist from running into his arms. It would ruin your undercover plan.

He slowly walks out of the smoke, his hands in his pockets, his eyes boring holes into Hawks. He looks pissed. Sure, to people who don't even know him, he'd look relaxed, unfazed almost, but to you, you see how he walks stiffly, how his eyes don't leave his target and the smoke coming from his fists. He's fuming with anger but he's plastering on a lazy smirk to fool Hawks.

"You would think the heroes would treat her better than the villains, but from how I see it, she's being used."

"Dabi," he growls. "I suggest you walk away bef—"

"No. I don't think so." Then his eyes flick up. And Toga drops down. Leaving Hawks to fight her off. Leaving Touya to grab you.

"Y/n!" Hawks yells, running to save you.

But it's too late.

Kurogiri is opening a warp gate behind you. Touya is pulling you in. Toga is going in the other one. Hawks is rushing to you.

"KEIGO!" you scream, reaching for him.

At least, until the gate closes. Then you breathe a sigh of relief and turn to face Touya.
