You clicked the button on the phone before Kaori greeted you.

"Hey! Do you want to meet up in town today? I have Christmas shopping to do and thought you might wanna come and maybe pick some things out?" Kaori spoke

"Umm, yeah that sounds great actually. I don't have anything else to do." You returned.

"Okay, then how about we meet at 2:00 in front of the Holiday shopping center downtown. There's a cafe there we can meet at." She gave the details.

"Sure, sounds good. I'll see ya then."

"Alright see ya." Kaori hung up.

After getting ready, you found the directions on your phone and headed that way towards town.

You took the bullet train, and not long after found yourself at the shopping center and the cafe.

A voice called out, "Hey there Yuan."

The two of you walked all over the shopping center, pointing out items and laughing as you walked. A happy smile on your face remained.
It got a little darker as the sun disappeared behind the tall buildings around the shopping center.
Finally, the two of you sat down on the bench outside of a shop, stuffing your face with hot creamy donuts.

The air was cooling.

"Ya know Yuan, you could always spend Christmas with my family." Kaori suddenly spoke. The bags full of purchased items sat next to her.

Your eyes blinked a couple times before you spoke, "Actually, I'm spending it with Akaashi."

Kaori's eyes widened.
"Huh?!"
"You never told me you were spending Christmas with a boy! Let alone the setter of our team!" She exclaimed.

"Well I told him I was by myself this holiday and he just offered to celebrate with him." You acted normally.

"You need to get him something!" Kaori shook your shoulders.

"Huh? I don't even know what he likes." You raised your eyebrows.

"Books, intelligent things that are hard to understand." She counted on her fingers.

"Yeah yeah I get that, but that's so lame to get him a book." You retorted.

"Then get him something memorable." She said quickly.

You'd wanted to get him something, but the ideas weren't there.

"Like something from a memory you share with him." Kaori added.

Your mind clicked.

The time of the water flouting lanterns you released onto the river flooded into your mind.

"Where can you buy flouting lanterns?" You suddenly asked her.

"Ohhh that's a good idea. I think we passed a shop with them on a poster." She informed.

"Let's head that way then." You spoke and she nodded.

Soon just before sunset you got your hands on two flouting lanterns, the ones that you released into the sky.
After, you found yourself on the way home.
Just before dark, the dorms were comfortably in sight.
