Immediately after that day, you walked with Akaashi and Bokuto to school. You watched the cherry blossom trees thin more and more every day, and watched as the green trees became more accustomed to autumn.

Officially, you were a Fukurodani volleyball team manager from this day forward when finally getting the correct papers sighed.

And now, your feet stood in the doorway of the gym. Light peered through the windows as the net was being set up by the players.

Kaori noticed you in the corner and jogged to you from her placement next to the coach. Her hair was a  dirty blonde hue that was always styled in a high ponytail, and she had bangs that hung in between her eyes. The coach wasn't very tall, though he wasn't too short, and was on the larger side. His hair was short and dark, and he was very kind.

"Yuan! I'm so excited you decided to become manager. Having one of my best friends become manager is gonna be so great! Let me introduce you to the team." She exclaimed as she grabbed your hand and led you over energetically.

The coach called the team over, and the boys walked over and stood in a line.

"This is Yuan, she will be our assistant manager until Kaori graduates. Welcome her to the team." The coach smiled at you.

The boys all bowed as said, "we're grateful for your assistance."

Akaashi smiled as he looked at you, standing back up straight from his bow.

You walked closer to Akaashi as the rest of the team went back to setting up the net.

As you opened your mouth to say something, a weight was put on your shoulders. Bokuto had swung either of his arms around your and Akaashi's shoulders, "hey hey hey, great to have you. I am team captain after all so you should hear it from me." Bokuto cheered.

"Since your captain you should also keep track of our games." Akaashi muttered, not really fond of the physical touch around his shoulder.

"Naw, that's your job." Bokuto let go of the two of you as he smiled and ran over to get the ball basket.

Akaashi sighed out, "sometimes I forget who our real team captain is."

You laughed, "Are you kidding, Bokuto is the greatest captain." You said with sarcasm.

Akaashi smiled, huffing out a laugh.

"Akaashi, come set for me!" Bokuto called.

He looked to you with furrowed brows before walking over to Akaashi.

You went and filled everyone's waters in the hallway, and walked back into the gym. They were scrimmaging three against three, and rotating out and back in in equal durations.

The sound of shoes squeaking against the floor as the players landed from a spike filled your ears.
And your eyes fixated on every movement the boys made. How the ball flouted in the air to meet a palm and be launched to the other side of the net. The heavy sound of a cannon being blasted in a serve, and the impact the ball made in a receive.

It was all so distant to you, but hunger filled your body.

The coach eyed you from the bench before he finally called your name, "Yuan, I hear you used to play volleyball. What's your position?"
