Chilly air moved in fast as if it were winter. The trees responded, letting their leaves shed, littering the ground with autumn colored leaves. Though, it was only a cold front, it was like winter had settled in and moved into the neighborhood. It was bringing something along with it. A feeling that dug into the pit of your stomach as you watched the sky through the window.
Five hours and 325 kilometers away, sweat dosed the floor. Shoes bared against the court, and legs shot up into a jump. Arms cocked back and launched forward as orange and royal purple jerseys painted the court.
However, eyes of crows showed the reflection of a spinning yellow and blue ball, and their black feathers fell softly onto the court. An eagle soured from above.
Hunger filled the white eagle's eyes as it dove down, preparing its claws as its wings spread wide. It's talons enclosed the crow, rendering it useless as the crow struggled on the ground.
But darkness caved in and grey clouds filled the sky. Black birds crossed the cable lines.
The white eagles color was shadowed, and black crows swarmed around it, encircling it. And all was left but white feathers. It was the finals.
"Who do we play next?" You asked Akaashi as you walked the halls towards the gym for practice.
"Nekoma." Bokuto answered quickly as he walked on the other side of Akaashi.
Bokuto only knew that because this was the game he was looking forward to. The game he would play Kuroo, the captain, and a best friend of his.
"For who goes to Nationals." Akaashi finished off.
You nodded, thinking about the few times you had seen Nekoma play.
They were good.
No...they were great. The way they moved together as if they knew what each other was thinking, and the support that propelled their force. It was extraordinary. They were always one step ahead.
That's what set them apart.
That's what made them special.
That's why they were strong. And the team had one chance. One chance to win.
That was it.The weekend came quick after practice that Friday night, and the morning woke you earlier than you had pleased as the sky was still blue.
The horizon was just turning orange as you walked down the three flights of stairs down to the bottom complex of the apartments.
The air was cold to your face as you reached the outdoors. You had barely taken any steps before you felt eyes on you.
And standing there to your right of course was Akaashi, wide eyed and yawning. You gave a soft smile as you waved.
Walking in the same direction to school, something bothered Akaashi.
"It's early for anyone to be walking in the cold like this." He spoke, looking to you."I wanted to sleep in, but my brain said otherwise. I was on the way to the city actually. I was gonna catch the buss there to downtown since it's just past the school." You added.
"Bokuto wanted to practice his spikes this morning, he woke me up when he called me eight times." He spoke with a straight face.
You laughed, "that sounds just like him."
Akaashi yawned one more time before he looked at you. "You were going downtown alone?" He asked.
"Yeah." You answered.
He sighed out, looking to you with furrowed brows, "you shouldn't be going alone like that. Something bad could happen. How many times have I said this?." He stated.
